I had a chance to watch the SpaceX Rocket Launch from the Kennedy Space Center, about 3 miles from the launch pad. The mission had previously been scrubbed the day before because of an engine malfunction.
The loud boom you hear toward the end is not the rocket itself, it's the sound from the initial blastoff finally reaching us several seconds later.
