Something very interesting about this show. This episode was based on a old idea to introduce the ATHF in Space Ghost in 1999, but didn't go through because it focused entirely on the ATHF and was rejected, resulting in the creation of the show itself. When ATHF became popular, Dave Willis and Matt Maiellero rewrote their original script and it became this episode, Baffler Meal, but initially aired 3 years after ATHF was already broadcast on Cartoon Network, for the 2003 Adult Swim New Years Eve Marathon. It was sort of a way to fool people into thinking that ATHF's origins began as a Space Ghost Coast to Coast episode... which is _half_ the truth, but this episode was produced _after_ ATHF already existed. They intentionally made the characters more prototypical, including design and voices, just to fool people. That's a mindfuck if I've ever heard of one.

This is my favorite episode of all the space ghost cartoons. I remember laughing hysterically the entire episode… i truly miss this show, and it’s beautiful absurdity!

It's been a while since I watched it, but I once saw an episode of Space Ghost: Coast to Coast where he interviewed Mark Hamill and Space Ghost kept calling him Luke Skywalker but he never got the name right, so at one point Hamill corrects him by saying, "It's Luke Skywalker!" and Space Ghost replies, "Yeah, that's what I said, 'Duke Fartknocker.'" I'm probably slightly misremembering it, but it makes me chuckle every time I think about that bit. lol

Took me years to realize it's the mooninite voice.

Ignignokt had taken over Master Shake's voice with sci-fi stuff at the time.

Knowing the direction they went with Aqua Teen in its own spin off series, it's weird seeing them in this early concept phase. Especially Frylock. Meatwad is still the same, lmao.

Space Ghost... those were the good days. Really miss those.

this show and Aqua teen felt like a surreal fever dream like watching this at 2am didnt feel real it was so strange but it was funny at the same time

There was a crossover in the form of Adult Swim bumpers on New Years Eve 2003 and it involved all of the characters from the Williams Street shows(Sealab 2021, Brak Show, Harvey Birdman Attorney At Law), not just Space Ghost and ATHF. They were fairly funny but also kind of a downer as they confirmed that SGC2C and The Brak Show were getting cancelled.
