Everyone's giving out because blue wasn't ready. They said at the start there would be a 30 minute build phase and then war was on there was nearly an hour before red declared war.

Fun Fact: They actually took an hour before attacking. Listen at 13:44

Even after war was declared Duncan kept beautifying rather than adding the thrusters he kept complaining about not having.

I think this should become a mildly regular thing, kind of like Civ is. It's very entertaining, and you can switch out people.

I would have enjoyed hearing them talk to each other after the "war"

Simon saying "WHY?! BECAUSE I NEED TO KNOW!!!" right before being rammed by a ship 10x his size made this entire series worth watching.

This is the episode that almost ended the yogscast haha

I think you should have given it a little longer, it would have been good to see a proper fight

I want to see someone put together a walls style gametype for this 4 teams of 5-10 have 30 mins to build ships and defenses, then they fight to the death when the time runs out

Unless they added pistons, it would be impossible. And there would have to be timers for the pistons, and you could have to be able to use VEEEEEERRRRRRRRRYYYYYY long pistons.

The One and Only MASMC The developer said he's planning on adding writable programs to the game. Basically all the redstone that goes into things like the walls(currently done with plugins though) will be done through in game programs. Modding isn't even a thing in space engineers yet, lord knows what'll happen to this game in the next year or so

Is it just me or did Blue team repeat the exact same thing around 9:30-10 that they had said when war was declared? ( Apologies if my grammar is awful )

@@Petrslav Some fans didn't like how red took over already made ships (which seems fair if there is no rule against it) and apparently this did cause a pretty heated argument in yogtowers since blue basically wasted an hour of their time and got their stuff wrecked in what they saw as cheating. Tbh they could've made more clear rules about stealing finished ships or at least give blue a 5 minute warning so they could've at least finished stuff that could take off, on the other hand the time limit was supposedly 30 minutes (although Duncan says they were supposed to just wait until everyone was ready) and they took an hour to build three smaller ships instead of doing 2 which could have been done faster.

@@thisIsFunnyLolz yeah I read a bunch of stuff about that. It's unfortunate because I don't see either side as being clearly in the wrong, but I understand why both of them acted how they did. Fortunately it didn't end the yogscast. Though, I think I was more so wondering how the fans reacted initially when I first asked the question. Do you know anything about that?

Red team definitely had their Ork face on for this game. Big looted ships with guns slapped on, plowing right through everything in the way, including an asteroid between them and the base, then crashing down, guns blazing. It was less a fight than ownage, but let's be fair, both teams had access to the wrecks, both teams had the same time, and most of Blue's problems were related to trying to doll up their fighters and add automation that they wouldn't need. It was a fair match, just with a one sided outcome. Maybe next time, things might be different, if there is a next time.

For everyone screaming random crap about the random big ships in the asteroids, I want to note something. BLUE TEAM CHOSE TO NOT GO TO LOOK FOR THEM. As such, they had the chance to look for some, but chose not to, so stop complaining. Everything was equal, the exception being build time, as both teams had the rights to find ships in the asteroid belt.

To the people who are saying "It wasn't fair, red didn't build anything" It is fair. They took the initiative of scavenging ships. While blue team didn't. Also, The blue team could have built one battleship instead of three fighters which could be faster to make if you have a team of people. (not going to reply to hate comments :))

Turps screaming at 13:31 is one of my favourite moments of any Yogscast video ever.

but they didnt cheat. they gave blue more time. also blue could have gotten those ships too

They were given 30 mins to build and they got that and more, there is no way this is unfair, blue could have built 2 ships and completed them. And Duncan could have finished his ship rather than adding hull, yes it would have been easily destroyed but at least it would have worked. Red teams idea of finding ships that were already in the world was a good idea that blue didn't think of, blue did know there were already ships because Duncan told Simon to go look for them and grind them.

Exactly. And Lewis managed to get a small ship scratch built and delivered to the base. Sure, the bomb didn't work, but trade that warhead for guns and you could totally see how Blue could have done it. Likewise, people complain that they found the ships and "cheated", but geez, they actually wasted a lot of time going for them, with the drilling holes in the asteroid, getting shot by their own turret, casting Sips' corpse off to space and whatnot. Blue got stuck pretty much straight in, but fluffed about with conveyors and cosmetics, and it cost them. I enjoyed it though, the banter was fun, as was seeing the different creative paths they took, and that's what all these ragers need to understand. You want elite top notch hardcore gamers to let you vicariously bask in the win? Probably should not be looking to the Yogscast.

jaijai76 having played space engineers myself building a fighter without armour is thinly veiled suicide the turret on red teams ship would have just instantly killed him and his effort would have just gone to waste. And blue did look for ships but they couldn’t find anything in a usable state so they just decided to salvage.

Holy Moses! Please PLEASE do more Space Engineers PvP! This was great, and perhaps the next battle will have a prep timer.

Red cheated? Has no honour? Wow. This fucking fanbase sometimes.... I miss the days the comments were disabled. They found a ship, repaired it and turned it into an attack ship TOGETHER. Their strategy was more solid than the shit one that blue team had to work separately on their own ships from scratch. The fact of the matter is they both had half an hour to get ready. Not red team's fault if blue team is incompetent despite actually being forewarned of an assault.

I don't think it's a matter of incompetence. The teams decided to go for different strategies to make it more interesting. It wasn't Team Blue that made the wrong decisions - they just had a harder strategy that would have worked given more time.

Teddy Bear Space Program I stand by my word choice, I don't think there's much of an alternative other than the synonym "lack of ability" I fail to see anything useful being produced in the time given on the Blue Team. They were literally unable to do anything successfully. At the very least, I had expected them to actually have at least one working ship to fight back OR with their hand guns. In the end, neither was done and their time was wasted building stuff that didn't even work as proved by Simon who was the only one to actually attempt to fly out. Although I agree they needed more time, what's the point in that if the enemy team has to wait for them? Kinda defies the point of a war in the first place.

The point is, they could not have done an entertaining series if both teams had gone for red's strategy. One of them had to build their own ships; this happened to be the blue team. Given a few more minutes, they would have done fine - and it would have been more entertaining and epic, which is the goal of this video.

They repaired it? They just pur a cockpit, some thrusters and a single cannon on it... Sips was doing nothing, Turps was just wandering around on this giant red ship and lewis was building a completely stupid arrow with a tiny warhead on top. That's not teamwork, this is just the new yogscast.

Except blue team had no way of knowing if the time limit was up or not. Not to mention the lack of "x minutes left to get ready" notifications. (Needed Ridgedog for time cues)

Aww what they didn't even destroy their medi bay! Rematch with no prebuilt ships, I was looking forward to a good battle but that sucked...

Everybody is bitching and insulting each other now cause red used shios that they found and blue wasn't prepared, they said in the start that there was 30 minutes of perparation and blue decided on their own to not search ships, but the thing is i think that everybody wanted a big battle and they got ownage over unprepared blue and a bigass battering ram.

I'm not taking the whole "Blue had an equal oppurtunity to find a ship" arguement. Why have a build phase at all if you're not going to build in it? Seemed like an entire waste of time for the blues...

The way the ship fired missiles and crashed straight into the base is just too funny

the part when the attacked started made me laugh so hard I died laughing

Everyone who says Red cheated because they got the pre-made ships is wrong, blue team knew about them too and could have easily gone out and searched for one, before war was declared simon even went out to look for one

Red team utilized their resources and won. Commenters opinions: Because red team was smarter they cheated, now commenters are demanding a rematch because red team won for being smart. WTB>Logic.

Such a grand finale! Now I really want to try this game build stuff and shit.

The best part is coming back to this after having played space engineers myself and having the knowledge to detonate the warhead

For everyone who is complaining that the blue team wasn't even ready; the two warships that red team found were closer to blue's base than they were red's base. Meaning blue team could've found and used them MUCH EASIER than red team. They just didn't take advantage of it. It's a war between those who use their brains the best, not who spends more time on something.

They need to do more of this, this was awesome XD

I was looking forward to a massive space battle in which everyone had their own ships fighting each other... But this kinda made the whole series not worth watching :/ There needs to be a rematch! Skip the whole building phase, just get a huge stockpile of ships for both factions and go duke it out!

This was great guys! I hope to see more of this in the future but maybe with the entire Yogscast! :)

That ended about how I expected, I did think that there would be a few more ships flying in the end, but still, a good watch. I do wish blue would have attempted a sneak attack on red's med bay with grinders while the large ship was attacking, but it still probably would have been pointless.

A lot of people here, including our host Duncan, are forgetting some things. 1) Longer prep time would have been nice, but that would also mean Red team would have more prep time. Had red 1 been properly fitted for weapons and repaired, it would be an even more lethal behemoth that might still create a 1-sided fight if given thrusters 2) red 2 would also be fitted for weapons and since its a speed demon it would have done major damage to the three smaller ships 3) Red team's nuclear warhead failed to detonate; had it done so, blue team's base would have exploded regardless and then you'd all be bitching about how, despite following the rules to the letter and consequently handicapping themselves by using ships they were still working on, they had used a legal game mechanic to win

Most people forget, they were give. 30 minutes of prep time but when they talked about it on a stream some time ago (search game that almost killed the yogscast) it turns out they actually almost spent an hour doing basically jack shit and red team got stuff done.

This was fucking amazing, you should much more of this!
