Decisions and places to explore and actually feel like exploring! Been gaming since 2003 and nothing ever gave me the feeling like mass effect trilogy and dragon age games.

    I miss the old spirit blade combos. They could have nerfed it giving it a longer cooldown (you could do a 3 hit combo and then get a cooldown). Having your spirit blade charge to 100 and then hitting once is so sad.

    I like the flame array damage build, but I took the KE a totally different route and I lean heavy on KE abilities. A lot of people like the damage builder route like this? But I like the tank build where the damage is passive. Alright, so follow this. Spirit Blade is spell damage, right? So, I maximized it as my main damage dealer spell, and the whole build is to set to maximize being in the enemy's face, keeping mana as low as possible, and getting in as many swings as possible with Spirit Blade. Here's my KE build: In the Storm tree if the only perks you take are Energy Barrage with no upgrade, then Conducive Current, you spirit blade hits harder and harder the less mana you have (5% damage bonus for every 10% missing mana) - when you're mana is low, SB hits HARD! In the Inferno tree, I took Immolate + Wildfire (400% Weapon Damage + 150% Weapon Damage per second), Flashpoint (No cooldown after a critical strike), Clean Burn (Every spell shortens cooldown times). In the Winter Tree, I took Fade Step + Frost Step for 300% weapon damage, and Frost mastery for the +25% freeze duration and chill duration bonuses. In the Spirit tree, I went down the right side. Barrier + Energetic Defense, Guardian Spirit, Mind Blast + Fortifying Blast, and Strength of Spirits. The reason I take Energetic Defense is so that I can operate/open from ranged, (and I do from time to time - not often, but it happens enough that it matters). It will allow me to do things like drop barrier first, use my mana dumps (Energy Barrage -> Immolate), then Fade Step and drop into Fade Cloak without my barrier going away. It's super useful. The reason for Mind Blast and Fortifying Blast is that it strengthens my barrier for each enemy hit (10% per enemy). And this is where that comes in handy. With Fade Step/Frost Step/Frost Mastery, you freeze and chill all enemies you hit, and with Mind Blast, it's a spell combination. It does damage to frozen targets and you can own mobs all day long. In the KE tree, I go down the left side too. Combat Clarity means that my mana regens faster in proximity to enemies, so I'm always in their face. And of course Fade Shield and Knight-Protector is important, because a. You want enemies to hit you because it strengthens your barrier (FS) and you want your barrier to go down slower (KP). That's my tank build. I don't go down the left side of the spirit tree because it drop additional aggro with Peaceful Aura making enemies less likely to attack you in battle, and Mind Blast, when used as a way to drop aggro doesn't work if you ARE the tank on the field. I make Cassandra a Templar Battlemaster DPS build, and I make my other warriors DPS as well. Math-wise for SB, it will drops 150% weapon damage with 100% bonus damage vs guard and barrier. Conducive Current? If you mana dump you'll keep increasing that damage by up to 50% per swing, so the more you swing, the harder each progressive swing hits. The same with all of your abilities. Decloaking Blast (1000% damage), Energy Barrage (66% weapon damage), Immolate (400% weapon damage (150% burning DPS)) + Wildfire (additional 100% weapon damage (75% burning DPS)) - all increased by up to 50% damage -- all the while you're swinging away to your heart's content dropping up to 200% weapon damage per swing. On nightmare I was soloing dragons by level 12 because I had extra ability points, and by level 15 my basic build was complete with upgrades. Human - 1 extra ability point Exclusive Training perk - 1 extra ability point Amulet of Power in Crestwood - 1 extra ability point. 18 points and a complete build at level 15. But what about defense? See, a lot of people will stack attack on their abilities, then gear up for defense. I reversed it. I put in defense and passive damage into my abilities (relying heavily on guard/barrier), and gearing for damage. My gear priorities +attack, +magic, +willpower in that order. +Attack raises all damage across the board. +Magic raises attack and barrier damage for mages, +Willpower raises attack and magic defense for mages. My accessories? 1. Superb Cooldown Amulet - +15% Cooldown Modifier 2. Superb Ring of Attack - +10% Attack 3. Superb Ring of Staggering - +10% Stagger on Hit 4. Superior Belt of Focus - +30% Focus Gain Bonus My armor? I use masterwork battlemage armor with Abilities Cost 7.5% less mana/stamina, and on my weapon I use a spirit rune for +attack and armor penetration. When you use rift around demons? Even at rifts, demons die instantly, and with the attack bonuses and the shorter cooldown times,, a level 12-15 KE tank is a MONSTER! That's my KE tank build. After level 15, I pick up extra passives in Winter and Inferno. My last playthrough on nightmare? I had extra points that I didn't even use.

    I'm level 10 so looking for something exactly like this. I've just unlocked the KE today so i will see if i have enough points to follow this build. If not is there anything i should be looking to prioritise until i unlock the extra points i need to complete the whole build? (if it matters my party is Cole/Sera/Blackwall)

    Would have been better to go another race like Elf then for 25% ranged defense if you didn't need the extra point.

  • @dexternelson

    @dexternelson

    4 жыл бұрын

    @@mickyb549 What you prioritize would be different depending on your party. I rolled with Cassandra, Solas and Varric most of the time since I had them better geared. I can't really tell you what to prioritize, but I can tell you what I prioritized. With a tank I prioritized ranged offense first, then transitioned to being a tank. So, I always had a barrier caster in the party. First, I bought a necklace to refund all of my points, then I took skills in this order. 1. Energy Barrage 2. Immolate (no upgrade) 3. Barrier (no upgrade) 4. Spirit Blade Then I went back. 5. Conductive Current 6. Wildfire (upgrade to Immolate) 7. Flashpoint 8. Clean Burn That is your basic ranged offense. When I got higher up, I started the transition to melee ranged, which meant I needed to work on my barrier and defense. Then I filled out the KE points first because that's where much of the survivability is, especially at the bottom. I put a * on those. 9. Combat Clarity 10. Fade Shield * 11. Knight-Protector * 12. Fade Cloak 13. Veiled Riposte * Then I went back into the Spirit Tree for: 14. Guardian Spirit * 15. Mind Blast (no upgrade) 16. Strength of Spirits * Then it's back to the KE tree for one upgrade. 17. Defending Blade (Upgrade to Spirit Blade) - this is SUPER useful by the way in Jaws of Hakkon against the bowmen. At this point I started working on the move to melee range, starting with Winter Tree. 18. Fade Step (no upgrade) 19. Frost Mastery 20. Frost Step (upgrade to Frost Step) Then I got the other upgrades. 21. KE Tree, I got Decloaking Blast (Upgrade to Fade Cloak). 22. Spirit Tree, Fortifying Blast (Upgrade to Mind Blast) That's the whole basic build. You spent a lot of time ranged, and you spend some time waiting for the KE tree and Winter Tree to fill out, but as you see, that's only 20 points. If you get the 2 or 3 upgrades, and respec with the necklace, You can be pretty solid mid-game. Eventually you can go back to Spirit Tree and get Energetic Defense, but I never found much use for it as long as I had a barrier caster in the party that had that trained. SPOILER: This is not my actual end game Nightmare build. When you're doing Jaws of Hakkon you gain a new power Aegis of the Rift, and you can use 2 points in upgrades. But, since you can only have 8 active items, I dropped the upgrade to Mind Blast and just took it off of my bar. When you start approaching level 22, 23, 24, 25, (Jaws of Hakkon is level 25), then you can start doing some really cool things. For example, In the Winter Tree, I took Winter Stillness (passive), Ice Mine (I don't use it), and took Ice Armor * for the reduction of spell damage you take when standing near frozen targets. Then I went back to the Storm Tree for Stormbringer, Static Charge, Gathering Storm and the Energy Bombardment upgrade to Energy Barrage. And yes, I have all of that at level 25. And here is a bonus tip. If you get both upgrades to Aegis of the Rift, then use a necklace to respec, you keep both upgrades! So yeah. Right now I'm owning everything. To maximize the frost aspect, I would keep a mage in the party. I'm using Solas as a combination of rift mage with deep frost, so everything stays frozen. Then, I respec'd Cassandra to dps templar while I tank as my KE mage, and my rogue is Varric still. I have him really nice on the ranged. Crit stacked artificer with Bianca maxed. He's a straight up brute. My armor isn't crafted. No crafted I've found is actually stronger than the gear from the Deep Roads for my mage. Cowl of the Pure and Vestments of the Pure. The weapon is also hard to out-craft. Isana's Song.

    @@SplitpersonalityGaming Maybe, but it's not really necessary. I never had to worry about losing barrier anyway, even on Nightmare. The hardest I ever fought were Jaws of Hakkon. They put a stacking debuff on you that does more and more damage the higher it goes. It will eat through the barrier, and it ignores guard, so the only way to manage it is to have someone with a dispel ability remove it, and have people in your party that can interrupt attacks. I rolled with Dorian, Solas and Iron Bull for much of it since I was tanking on my mage.

    I like the build. Thanks for sharing. I'd probably put another three points in the winter tree, though, dropping Frost Step (to get back a point) and instead going for Ice Mine/Array and Ice Armor for extra damage and protection. I also like the fire and forget version of Blizzard- in my opinion, it is a superior alternative to Energy Barrage. The only real criticism I have is with your armor masterwork- Abilities Cost 7.5% less mana. That's like less than a second of mana recovery, so kind of a waste. I like the OP's gain guard on hit much better. Or hidden blades if you want extra damage. Or walking bomb, maybe. But still, your build has character, which I like, so good job.
