Southern Trains at: Clapham Junction - 14 March, 2022
A visit to Clapham Junction to see the Southern services to and from Victoria. My quest was to capture the 455/8s in service before they retire from service. In the end they are only operating on the Epsom Downs service so the video is dominated by the various flavours of 377.

Nice job as usual Boogie. It seems strange to me that Southern has announced it is getting rid of the 455s while the older and, by the accounts I read, increasingly unreliable 313s are still down on the South Coast. Presumably there is a plan for their demise at some point.

Southeastern have announced that some of the retired 465s are coming back. There is no way they need the additional capacity, especially with the 707s coming in. The logical conclusion is that a cascade involving the 377/5s is coming. That should allow the 377/3s to replace the 313s on the south coast. The future railway is going to be very different due to lack of money.
Clapham Junction is a really busy station in South London. And is on the planned Crossrail 2 route which obviously won’t happen until possibly in the 2030s. And with the Northern Line extension to Clapham Junction from Battersea Power Station. And Southern who are replacing the Class 455 could order new rolling stocks or to inherit the Class 387/1 from Great Northern and Class 387/3 from c2c & GWR to operate on the suburban services in and around South London.

Southern aren't getting new trains, they are reducing service :/ also, I think GWR wanna keep their 387s
