4K Ultra HD footage of the Fokker FVIIB “Southern Cross” Replica at the @HARSAviationMuseum in Australia.
Captured on 18th April 2023 and there are plans for this to fly later in the year.

Wonderful to see it taxying again under its own power, after such a long restoration . I’m looking forward to seeing her grace the skies once again in the near future I’m lead to believe 🤞
Back in 1928 the original "Southern Cross" completed one of the greatest flights of aviation history with Australian Sir Charles Kingsford Smith at the controls. How fascinating to see this exact replica starting each of its 220 hp engines and taxiing! Looking forward to the first flight. Great footage Paul!

I touched that plane a couple weeks ago at HARS. Weird to see it flying!!
I got to pilot and taxi a ford tri motor a few years back
like a Junkers 52 taxiing, but that one had bigger engines.
Are the engines R980 ?

Why there has to be three engines in a such a small plane?

Pretty unreliable back in the day, 3 engines gave you a better chance of reaching your destination 😅
There was a Southern Cross replica that used to fly out if Parafield airport in the Northern suburbs of Adelaide. I remember seeing it in primary school back in the 80's. I believe it crashed and never flew again.... sad.

@@paulstewart2ndchannel . A little birdie had told me she has been invited to fly into SYD to commentate the 95th Anniversary of Smithies flight in June . Fingers and everything else crossed 🤞
