Brings back memories of 20+ years back -- I lived in Pinner and it took a few bus rides to get to Southall, but it was worth it -- wonderful atmosphere there. Besides the lively Asian community and the chance to buy cheap cassettes of Hindi film music there was a weekly horse sale, where I imagine travellers would buy and sell. When my partner and I were planning to marry and she wanted material for her wedding dress I advised her to go to Southall -- and she got just what she wanted at a fraction of the price the regular shops were charging.

Read my comment above! Southall was one of my favourite places when I lived in Greater London and since moving away it's one of the spots I really miss. It's long been a tradition in the UK - and in many other countries with many immigrants (e.g. the US) - for enclaves to form with various ethnic groups, e.g. Jews in Golders Green (actually another place worth a visit), East Europeans in Stepney, etc. Why ask such a daft question?

Transportation is a base of 80% Canadian economy and all Punjabi people work in this industry. Not for sake of money but for lack of opportunity for them in other fields.
