South Western Railway (SWR) Class 455 In BR Blue Livery Passing Through Surbiton - 06/03/24
Video: The freshly repainted South Western Railway (SWR) Class 455 (455868) in a retro British Rail Blue livery with SWR logos is seen passing through Surbiton station with the standard ex-SWT livery 455909. They were returning from Bournemouth Depot to Wimbledon where they underwent their C4 overhauls (which included the retro repaint for 455868).
There was supposed to be a staff charter for the BR Blue 455 from Bournemouth to London Waterloo on Monday (04/03/2024), but it got cancelled due to the Class 450 derailment.

I passed it through Vauxhall and was so taken aback that I'd seen it completely by accident that I only just managed a quick shot of it before it whizzed by!

That derailment that caused the cancellation of the staff charter, have they said what the object was that the 450 struck? I've not seen any mention anywhere of what the object it struct was.

Is it just those 4 carriages on the whole of the SWR network that has that blue tribute paint job??? I've not spotted them in perason myself yet, and they seem to be rare.
When the network southeast replaced the blue grey I thought - aaarrrggghhh ! The ones that followed weren't too bad i suppose.
Preservation may be
Just saw it today at the level crossing. So much better than that SWT red monstrosity.

I’ve always thought the red SWT livery was much smarter than either Network SE or original SWT livery, you might dislike the colour but the refurbished trains were a big improvement at the time . Quite like this retro livery but really looking forward to getting class 701 with toilets and full AC.

I'm unsure, its still to early to tell as the 701s are barely in service. Given how cut-throat EMU preservation is in general, I highly doubt it.
Needs to be another one in Network South East too
The 455 in my opinion is one of the most underrated trains in Britain, very old style trains but in a good way

Apparently class 701s are taking over when class 455 retires
Makes me long for a 317 in NSE colours
