I’ve spent most of my life surfing (on a surfboard) in reasonably big surf and boating, crossing bars and beach launching which I still do. I feel comfortable enough doing this sort of thing but I always insist everyone on board wears a life jacket. In my experience most people grossly overestimate their ability to swim. There is an old ocean rescue adage, “ 50% of people wouldn’t survive a 50 yard swim in 50 degree( Fahrenheit) water”. That’s 10 degree Celsius.

Standard for fishing. Lobster fishing I've seen 12 - 20 foot following seas. It looks cool to see but we all knew what would happen if we pitch poled.

Worst wannabe captain. Putting people's lives at risk. Try passing Year 10 first and give the spelling bee a shot.
