All that part about being sucked into computer is from the movie Tron (1982) with Jeff Bridges. It was the very first movie to feature CGI. In that movie programs were made to fight each other like gladiators using light bikes - that's why Stan is disappointed about Yahtzee. It also had cool sequel in 2010 which kept the design, but updated the graphics.

First movie to use CGI was Vertigo in 1958, which used it in the opening credits. First feature-film to use it in the storyline of a live action film was Westworld (1973). Star Wars also predates Tron by 5 years and used a ton of CGI.

The issues with Wendy describe very accurately how social media can turn relationships toxic and even broke them. Years ago I had a friend who had a boyfriend at college, and a few months after finishing college, they started to see less and used Facebook to keep in contact till weekend. However, my friend started to become paranoid after watching photos of her bf with other girls who should have been just she-friends, and they broke up. Moral of the story: don't take seriously nor depend on social media, they can make you keep in contact, know how is someone or contact people, but a real relationship or friendship is when you are really hanging out in person and sharing experiences in the real world. Human relationships need real contact sooner or later.

@@Azurethewolf168 I wouldn't agree that it's the point of social media, but I would say it's the point of the social media "game". That's what it is, at the end of the day. It's a game built to prey upon weak peoples' desperate need for validation and attention. MySpace and Facebook started with "Friends", and that's all they were supposed to be. It was constructed to be about exclusivity, only limiting the people who can interact with you to the people you allow because you know them. It wasn't until later that it became a popularity game and then that really ramped up with Instagram, Twitter, and Snapchat where they changed it from "Friends" to "Followers". That's how I see it at any rate.

6:00 I could be wrong, but I believe this is literally the first time in the entire series up to this point that the character of Grandma Marsh appears. Think about it, we know Grandpa Marsh from season 1, but never hear anything of Sharon's parents, or Randy's mom. But all of a sudden, because they needed old lady Facebook friends I guess, the character is created, shoehorned in, and just as quickly forgotten. The plot would've worked just as well with Grandpa. But, saying that, I do adore this episode, a very good parody of Facebook and social media in general, and an excellent use of Tron imagery.

South Park don't really "predict" the future like Simpsons does, they usually base episodes on events that happened the week prior and make the episode in 6 days. I've had Facebook since 2009. I was against joining it at first but created that account due to peer pressure. I ended up becoming obsessed af with it at first but luckily I've gotten past that phase. However, I now got this one friend who is so addicted to it that if she doesn’t get attention from people on her friend list immediately after she posts, she will start tagging people in the comments of her posts. It's so annoying because I got other shit to do in the real world than looking at her posts 24/7, lol.

I'm on Facebook rn, I don't love it but I use it anyway to keep in touch w/friends and family and see what they're up to, and post occasional updates on my life, the basic shit (it doesn't have games anymore though lol). I refuse to get on TikTok though, I feel the same way about TikTok that Stan does about Facebook, plus I think I'm just too old to be on there (even though I'm 24 and there are people as old as 60+ on there lol). I love South Park though! Show just keeps getting better and better 😂😂
