South Fork State Park, Elko NV in our 40' Class A Motorhome
We arrived to South Fork State Park & Recreation Area in Elko, NV is a snow storm, and within days the weather turned to Summer temps and our lakefront RV campsite was just dreamy. The West Shore of this Nevada State Park was perfect for RV boondocking and was definitely big-rig friendly. It's free with a Nevada State Park all-access pass, or $10/ni for residents and $15/ni for out of state residents.
The nearby Ruby Mountains were a playground for us to explore with the jeep and on hiking trails. And the lake itself was perfect for daily sup boarding after work :)

Love the park! I think I’ll have to show Mike this one so he can get his fishing in. It’s crazy how the weather can change so fast! I hate the reservation system. I hope they keep a few spots for 1st come 1st served. Enjoy Idaho!

We loved it too! The whole west shore is being kept first come first served, just the east side is going to reservations. Mike will love the fishing, everyone seemed to be fishing in the river that feeds the lake 👍
"Elko's favorite radio is the K KELK...Stockmans." I probably don't remember that accurately, but that played on the radio station, in my youth.
Still really surprised and pleased by how amazing the NV state parks system is!! 😎

Highly recommend the Annual All Access Pass, it includes camping! 🙌
It’s sad to see most parks going to the reservation system. I hate it because popular parks you can get a spot for two or three days and then you have to move to another spot and so on. A real PITA. Enjoy your travel And I would guess you were back in the states now?

Yup! Just returned. We have found the same thing, you can never stay somewhere a week because the weekends are fully booked. So frustrating!
