There is a Volksmarch at Crazy Horse the first weekend of June and in the fall. You can get in for a donation of 2 cans of food per car. You get to walk all the way up to the face and stand on what will be the outstretched arm. You can see all around the Black Hills from there. Plus the museum has so much to see and they have Native American dancers and a rodeo!

Great list of sites to see. Hit many of these on my last visit but missed some. I’d add Purple Pie Place in Custer, SD. Found it coming out the south entrance of Custer State Park. Best peach pie ever.

Wow! Thank you for such a kind comment! We love sharing our adventures with hopes it helps others plan theirs 👏 We have our home base in Lake Havasu, Arizona and head out several times a year for our longer trips which we call seasons. One in Spring and one in Fall with smaller trips in between. Prior to our South Dakota trip we had traveled the prior Fall of ‘22 up the coast of California, through the Redwoods, through Oregon and to Olympic National Park. During that same trip we also visited North Cascades NP as well. After the South Dakota season we traveled in the Fall of ‘23 to Indiana from Arizona for a Grand Design Rally and ended up traveling to the Upper Peninsula in Michigan. One of our all time favorite adventures! We are glad to know you have enjoyed this video and hope you continue to follow our travels. We love this travel community because we have so much we can learn from each other. @@OverTheHillAdventures Just a note of interest: When we see campground reviews, because of our particular situation, we get a bit disappointed: We travel with a handicap family member. We have a Newmar that is factory configured with a wheelchair lift. Sadly, most people don't realize how important a pool lift is for folks like us. So, if you think of it, and can, one if they happen to have a pool lift. Many thanks!!

Absolutely! We try to be cognizant of sharing when places are ADA accessible, but never really thought about sharing the pool lift. Stan’s brother and his wife love traveling and have a son who is limited in mobility so we understand. Thank you!

Really enjoyed this series on South Dakota. Interesting stories on the caves. Don’t know if you’ve ever been to Shenandoah Park but there is an amazing cave just off of it called Luray Caverns. I don’t know why it’s not a National Park but it should be one!

We have never seen a campground that rents cars, side by sides, and golf carts. Just amazes us. Thank you for joining us on this guide. We are not done sharing our adventures in South Dakota. Great video. My wife & I met there in 1975 while we were both stationed at Ellsworth Air Force Base. Loved seeing many of the places we visited then & the changes to those same places. We plan to revisit, in 2024, during our Northwestern touring trip.

Hello, we put the measurements of the tunnels on the videos. I think you will be fine. The tunnel at the Needle’s Eye the drive a tour bus through. I have no clue how they do it because I have seen motor homes get stuck. Plenty of room for a Class B. Safe travels, Stan and Rhonda

You two are awesome! I've been to South Dakota two times, going back this fall, and learned a LOT! I love how you really got out and explored so much! I wouldn't have thought I could spend 1 week in South Dakota without doing the same things I've already done, but now, I'm thinking I could spend a couple of weeks and not even repeat old favorites! :) I hope you continue to travel and make a LOT of videos since I am a new subscriber!

We thought we did a pretty good job but as you said there is so much more!! We love when we can go into the wild and be the only people there with the animals. We enjoy exploring and finding these hidden gems away from millions of people. It does take a little work but the payoff is a great reward. We are going to be on a cruise going from Florida through the Panama Canal and then ending up in Long Beach. Fingers crossed that you get great weather in 2024. Hello Rick, Custer State Park is pet friendly. However, Mount Rushmore and Crazy Horse are not pet friendly. All the National Parks and Monuments are not pet friendly. Hope this helps. Stan and Rhonda👋
