Savannah is spending significantly more money on their port expansions than Charleston. The general "vibe" I've received over the years from locals in Mount Pleasant and surrounding areas is that they are fed up with the truck traffic building up in the greater Charleston area. Savannah has already completed a separate highway just for trucks to alleviate this situation in Savannah; but it feels like Charleston is moving too slowly in this regard: the highway extension of I-26 seems to be dragging on and on with no significant progress. Will Charleston port be able to compete viably with Savannah in the coming years? For me as a logistics and finance major, it seems that too little is being done too slowly. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Watching a program on the Discovery channel about the project. They said that Texas was the name of the largest dredger because it was the largest state. Sorry, folks. If the state of Alaska was cut in half, Texas would then be the third largest state. Pam

How about fixing how the port is run. Both ports are run differently. Port police let both ports run wild. Clip yard workers are on their cells phone more than they are working. They slow the drivers down a lot. Should not take 2 hrs to get in and out of the port.
