The special operations unit team has been made up from members from the STF and The National Intervention Unit (NIU) is a tier-two police tactical unit, part of the special operations element of the South African Police Service (SAPS).
The National Intervention Unit is one of the SAPS's elite units. It was established in 2000 to address high-risk operations and assist the Special Task Force as it was faced with an increased workload and limited resources. The NIU provides operational support for the Special Task Force with control and protect criminals while carrying out legal procedures, counterinsurgency, counterterrorism, crowd control, hostage rescue, operating in different terrain, protect important locations that are at high-risk of an attack, search and arrest high-risk criminals, special operations, tracking targets, urban warfare and VIP protection.

There is alot of shit spoken about our guys these days. but nothing wrong there. well done in a competition setting.

The issue is that the skills these 5 have do not represent the rest of the police force in South Africa. These guys are good, no doubt, but the rest of the police force is useless at best.

@@dreammediafilm I was talking about our Taakies! And if im not mistaken this group is a mixture of Taakies and NIU. The Taakie team beat their time from last year and did really well. Good to see there are still some dedicated Cops around.

From a South African, this showcase of skill from these people is vain because the amount of organized crime in the country that they can get under control, with a simple sting op or raid, is bewildering. Fancy possessing such skills and still being useless to the country

there are only 90 Special task force members to take on all of SA. there are just not enough and they cant have more since that would mean lowering the standards
At least they seem to be fashion forward, as the the last `sniper`😁😁 seems to be more worried about his sun glasses than anything else. And who in their right mind hangs your cuffs in front? dangling and hitting you in the nuts when your running?? How times have changed. But good on them for putting up a competitive effort. Makes me feel all warm and fussy inside, knowing I can sleep safe in SA with them on the job, if they have fuel in there vehicles to make it to a crime scene.
