I wonder what's your age? I'm really trying my best to live in peace with all in SA and make it a better place. I speak Zulu, I greet every black person in Zulu (although not everyone speaks it, at least everyone understands I'm greeting them and they appreciate it). I treat all people with respect. You know what's the most shocking part? The elders that really suffered under apartheid are the ones with the most respect. The new generation is full of hate. You are a bigot by calling me a whitey. Just to bring it all back into perspective: the title states South Africa is still under apartheid. To keep things as simple as possible - if the ANC weren't as greedy as they are, all people in SA would be living better lives - BEE failed, economic transformation failed, your government failed you. My heart really goes out to people still living in poverty and struggling. I can't change the past and I can't help all those people. I get it, white people were responsible for Apartheid, the very same white people I can't stand and have a conversation with. They are so narrow minded. I can however try to make tomorrow a better day for at least one person by greeting them in their native language and treating them with respect.

I think this is a very simplistic overview of Cape Town. And going back 25 years since the end of Apartheid does not help that much. Maybe it is good for people to understand the history, but Apartheid as a system of laws is finished. Segregation might still be there - such as coloureds predominantly live here, whites predominantly there and black people predominantly live there. In Johannesburg for instance has the ANC done a lot to improve the situation? The townships are still there. Soweto has improved but there are also more and more people moving to the area. One also has to consider wide spread corruption within the ANC, which has failed to deliver, and lined their own pockets. This is not about the DA run council in Cape Town. Will it be changed overnight or even in10 years? No, those places will always exist. Can they be improved? Yes. Will they be improved? That remains to be seen. Does the ANC have the political will to do it? I doubt it. They have consistently lined their own pockets while the majority have remained poor. There is also the issue of immigrants -- Zimbabweans, Nigerians, Congolese etc who have come to South Africa and made it their home -- and South Africa's population has grown by 5 million in the last couple of decades.

Take the time to analyze all aspects of South African life, inequality, corruption, crime, failures of all government institutions nationally. It's interesting to note how much effort, time & resources can be invested to publish specific aspects of South African life you feel passionate about. I would much rather appreciate solutions to the problems we are facing, recommendations, or some form of constructive input. But constructive input on the route cause of issues we are facing, and take it one step further and be transparent.

Property owners in Cape Town invested in putting up very high boundary walls( fences) and electronic gates with alarm systems, to protect their properties. Can you imagine how high their water bills will be if so many people just come- onto their properties daily, and fill up their big buckets with water?

Now of course, they would say that, but better for whom? They feel "sorry" for what happened to the blacks, but that was not "our fault"...??? I believe a lot of white SAs cannot see and feel how dehumanising that system was and hence being benefactors they are somewhat "unwilling" to accept that the ANC is a direct product of past policies... It was obvious to me, as a young man growing up in the Caribbean, that this was going to be an ugly transition.

Thank God Cape Town not run by the ANC 🙌 I have been to Gauteng Province a once beautiful thriving province before the ANC. The municipalities are not functioning. The CBD looks like its over run by rats. Lady please go back and look at the inequalities in your own country. Here in SA the police are afraid of blacks unlike in your country. So I would pretty much say that sums it up. Stop looking at black South Africans as victims. EVERYONE in all cultures have been victims at some time or the other. The Jews faced the holocaust ( I hope you believe its true and it happened. Unlike most of the WOKE left. Many Coloreds face eviction from district six . But today the government has given back the properties with homes more beautiful than before. I have a friend whose family received restitution in this way. MANY Black squatter camps you see in the clip sprung up after 1994. These are those who have moved from Eastern Cape to the Western Cape. Lady the Province can only hold so many. The Demographics you gave proofs that the Coloureds are indigenous to the Western Cape and have stayed rooted and built themselves up. The problem with Mananeberg community is not post apartheid segregation it's a cultural problem. Even though the education system is there for the next generation to empower themselves. Many of Their parents not the government just don't think its important. Because people like you keep telling them they are victims off the past and therefore they continue to think they are disadvantaged. Thus forever staying where they are. PLEASE TURN YOUR CAMERA AROUND TO AMERICA. We are not perfect but we love our our people... ALL RACES IN SOUTH AFRICA. Stop stirring up division. Actually, economically in terms of 'discrimination' we have a system called BEE which encompasses what is known as 'fair discrimination' which caters to black people first then coloured people, then Indians, then Asians and then whites. It's justification to be enforced is just as N. Mandela stated: 'petty revenge' and 80% of all South Africans, black and white believe a job should be given based on merit and that education is more important than a 'government handout' that won't get you anywhere. Inequality among races doesn't mean they haven't been getting jobs because of segregation/discrimination. It's because the ANC doesn't care about them. But the DA's leader (The Western Cape) Mmusi Maimane does.

People in this comment section fail to understand that even if a policy is passed, it doesn’t mean equality is achieved. The National party had been enforcing racial segregation for decades, which means achieving true equality would have involve the redistribution of wealth back in 1994, when the ANC first came into power. Without that, the legacy of the apartheid regime lives on within South Africa, evolving from a political policy to an economic one.

  • @blissdylan3891

Yes i agree, there is still economic apartheid. Black south Africans have been exploited and oppressed having no chances to do ANYTHING, yet alone gain money. You need to redistribute the wealth because Afrikaans aren't even supposed to be in south Africa in the first place so technically black south Africans are just taking back their money that they did work for but weren't paid equally for it.

Having lived in Stellenbosch for a while I can remember seeing this disparity very clearly. The duality of the living conditions that can be seen from a white neighborhood and into the nearest township is disheartening, that of course without even grasping the whole educational crisis that was present in some institutions during the fees must fall movement which displayed how a lot of the academic development in SA (especially in the western cape) was still tilted to cater to a white minority with a vastly greater income.

There are so manny sides of this, and blaming white people because they are the closest bad guy is not only demeaning, but stupid. There were very few black people before, during and directly after Apartheid. Most of the black people in the modern Western Cape are from other parts of the contry. In 2007 there was a propogand campaign to get more ANC(a very racially driven, black, party) voters in the western cape so they can finally take the entire country. Thats where those shacs come from. As for fees must fall, thats the main way that new, up in coming politicians kick start their career. Fees must fall is a pipe dream, as it is economically impossible. These scumbags are manipulating desperate people, telling them what they want to hear, and leaving them for the vultures when they are done.

Dude, it’s not “still under Apartheid”. If your main argument is the location of their housing etc. Yes it was originally segregated, but everyone just stayed in the areas that they were originally placed in after Apartheid without being forced to. You also didn’t acknowledge the REST of South Africa so you can’t make statements like this based on Cape Town alone. You left out that black students get preference in universities and that businesses have BEE statuses. You left out that in those predominantly white areas you will find wealthy black people living as well. Unfortunately it does look like black people have the underhand because they’re the largest percentage of the population they occupy all categories on the spectrum: Rich, middle class, poor. The proportions to white people are reversed, yes, but think about the numbers themselves and how many black people there are per white person. There are so many things wrong with this video. There are people in the comments below saying that it’s a reverse Apartheid now, I understand their meaning behind it but that doesn’t make it true either. I live in South Africa and I don’t believe it’s under Apartheid because there’s so many things that everyone has access to that many didn’t before. Everything is free game, except a few things where white people get preference AND/OR black people get preference. You can’t make a statement like that because you don’t know what Apartheid was like at all, and you should thank God for that.

I love how this didn't touch the huge corruption the country suffers from, the living situation is similar to American Red Lining. Apartheid put that into overdrive and it's effects echo that till this day. The sum of these things gives you this result. The Gini Index is again the result of Apartheid effect with generations unable to raise above one's circumstances. But remember Qatar is pro ANC and as a result this is a misleading piece on the DA which get's blocked when ever they need aid. Prime example the Water Crisis happening right now.

Well done person not from South Africa on commenting about a country you know nothing about. Those so called white suburbs were that way once but now anybody can live there. Maybe you didn't notice all the little kids running around in the background but that is a major contributing factor towards poverty and joblessness. The black population put great value in having many children but it is also the reason they remain poor. Kids are not cheap and it costs money for a good education. There is not enough work for such a rapidly growing population either. 1:35 you mention the sign specifically "warning black Africans" which is false because it warns English whites, Afrikaans whites and Black Africans but you wouldn't know that because you have an agenda. You point out the difference between the colored community and the black community well refer back to my point about children, they have less. You mention the whites beaches and the blacks and coloreds beaches yet they all look the same none worse than the other. The Western Cape is better run and has better opportunities than the rest of the country run by the anc which is why there is a huge influx of people looking for work there but unfortunately that is leading to even more people living in townships. The spacial planning of the apartheid era is not going to disappear overnight but to imply that present day governance is responsible for it still being that way is disingenuous at best.

XWebC1 you are right though, the black middle class is growing, but in terms of racial demographic ratios, they are almost as much of a minority vs. the total black population, as say white people are all round, and probably why you feel so overwhelmed by them in your neighborhood. That is because of poor economic growth that the current regime has to be responsible for, but still, does not imply that this video is deception of any kind.
