Watching 5 years later. Graduated highschool, got married, got divorced, graduated college all in that time. Every so often I come back to the old episodes and seeing how much the boys have changed helps me realize how much I’ve changed. Definitely dude, but blood relatives are usually a part of your family not all of it. I've got friends that have done far far more for me than most of my relatives. Family is one way of bringing people together, being good people and loving each other is what keeps you together. Whether you're directly related, step-siblings or best friends, the people that show up to the ER are the one's that are family. It's good that you're close to your family, but even your wife must have started as a friend or something similar. The brain is amazing, it doesn't discriminate when it comes to love.

Buzzfeed is it's own company. Source fed is one of several channels owned by an umbrella company. Buzzfeed is owned by... Buzzfeed. They're still profitable and it looks like when this umbrella coma only took over they've decided to change their direction, axe most existing ideas and maybe start something different. So that's why. Has everything to do with channels being sold to large corporations and umbrella companies who treat them like regular tv shows more than social media

I've been subscribed to SourceFed sense Phillip Defranco announced the channel on one of his videos many moons ago... I thought to myself, "wow, 3 years goes by so quickly". I went to the SourceFed channel to reminisce memories so I sorted the videos by date (oldest to newest) only to see that the first video came out "5 years ago" and I just felt so shocked... Time is passing me by and I don't even realize it! One day you're 13 watching Joe Berreta and Elliot Morgan yucking it up and next thing you know you're 18 years old and Steven Suptic is on your computer screen milking his nipples like a damn cow!

You need to rent a place, pay salaries, buy equipment, schedule shit, produce merch etc. It costs a lot. Don't get me wrong, I really hope that chicken boy can pull off something like this but.. That's probably wishful thinking as well (without funding)

Anyone else here trying to relive some childhood YT videos from Steven and the gang ? Their videos really helped me growing up. The skits/alternative lifestyle was one the the reasons that kept me going. Just waiting for each upload and watching it made my day. From the Minecraft phase to sugar pine 7, I was there for most of it until 2018.

This is so sad but anyone that is blaming Phil Defranco for this is incredibly uninformed and obviously wasn't that invested in SourceFed in the first place. Phil has stated on multiple social media platforms many different times that he is NOT affiliated with SF anymore, he sold them to Discovery and GroupNine MONTHS ago. Just because he took some time off around the same time this happened does not mean he had any part in it. Stop blaming him, it's not his fault. Don't rush to find someone to blame for this, just give the hosts and crew your support and make sure they know that their hard work was appreciated and that they will be missed.

I never expected the news that SourceFed was shutting down to hit me so hard in the old feelings, but I really did cry when I found out. The channel and the people involved behind the scenes have all been such an everyday part of my life since about 2013; and the thought of that building being empty of all these wonderful, insane, creative weirdos genuinely makes me so sad.

missoxymoronaddict 2013? You should have seen it day 1, it was amazing when Phil ran it and chose the first 6 members. When it was sold it started to go downhill and I'm sorry to see it go but the signs were pretty obvious.

Today marks the day that I rewatch all SP7 videos from the start. Because I miss the boys in my life.

For some reason, Steven suptic popped into my head and now I’m back here. Wish I never left. Don’t know why I left but I’m glad I’m back to rewatch these videos. Thank you!

Damn Steven. I have held it together over this until now. Your editing, your voice over, the structure of this video... it was all fantastic. I wish all of you ridiculously awesome, talented people all the luck in the world. You can only go up from here and god knows you will.

I am truly saddened by this news. I've been watching source fed from the beginning. :( I already follow most of these people on social media...but they are in the description for those who are curious.

Philip has stated multiple times that he isn't in charge of SF anymore. He has nothing to do with them, he is not involved with this at all- he sold sourcefed to Discovery months ago. He even tweeted that his time off had nothing to do with SF getting cancelled, and posted on Instagram about how he has no afilitaion with them anymore but that it still saddens him. So no, you're wrong.

Vincent Delos Santos wouldn't get enough funding for everyone to keep doing it as a job. It would have to be a side thing which would later become a dread for them instead of a fun career

Trinitty Brown Severance pay comes when a company lays people off unexpectedly. The former employees still get pay for a few weeks while they're out of work since they had no time to prepare and find new jobs. I am also curious if Group9 is offering Severance pay. If not, that's pretty shitty.

I am going to guess not. Probably some bs like they had a contract for 5 years and they just refused to renew the contract so in that kind of business you just lose your job. It is like a manufacturing company losing a contract, except the company is the contract. At least that is what I imagine since they said it was a contract at one point.

Unholyentity17 Deciding and refusing are two different things. I doubt sourcefed had a 5 year contract. That seems ridiculous for something that is constantly changing.

did discovery literally only give you guys two weeks notice or was it longer?

I'm just gonna make one massive post because a lot of people are asking stupid questions: Back in early 2010's KZread was doing a "what would you do with X amount of funding" campaign. Phil,Dani and others pitched SourceFed. When SourceFed first started Phil had creative control, which was perfect because if you liked the PhillyD show you'll probably like SourceFed,so that gave them a viewing base. 1-2 years later Phil sold sourcedfed to discovery, who he is also owned by. Phil missing last week has to do with his own contract and his own team trying to get a different building since they share with SourceFed,but he has absolutely no control over SourceFed. Around the time it got sold, the hosts started dropping like flies and ,it's cool they were going on to bigger and better things, but high turnover is never good for any company. Especially one for entertainment. Doesn't give people enough time to bond with the hosts or allow them to find a market for the hosts brand and eventually they started losing some long time viewership. Now back in October discovery partnered with a different "up in coming" company, gave them a handful of channels like SourceFe, DoDo bird(? I think that's how you spell it) and Seeker, and a couple mil. In the year of our lord 2017, it appears they're either canceling some of the channels or merging them. Either low ratings or wanting to go into a different direction-could be both. Personally, it looks like they want content suitable for viral videos and can reach the Facebook audience (which is a whole different demographic). "But wait their views were going up?" Yes, but that was extremely recent and I'm sure this decision was being discussed way before then. There's no way of knowing if those views would stick or how long we would have these hosts(again high turnover rate is never good)

I am so happy this is up, this is by far my favourite video of the year. And I know that's fucked up because it's chronicling the end of an era of stuff that we all loved so much, but I've never watched something that feels so much like a beginning and an end before.
