The sound of birds singing is one of the most distinctive sounds in nature and when we hear it, even if it’s just short-term exposure, it has been proven to have a measurable beneficial impact on our mental well-being. To put it simply, it relaxes us, helps us unwind and makes us happier.
Listening to nature sounds such as birdsong is also very effective at reducing stress and there’s a good reason for that. For the last 200,000 years or so, humans have found that when the birds are singing, things are generally safe in that area, but when they sense danger, even perceived danger, they will immediately stop in the hope of disguising their presence, and that’s when we should be concerned.
Birdsong or the lack of it, is Mother Nature’s burglar alarm. So listening to natural sounds like this birdsong recording, allows us to rest our overstimulated brains at the end of a hectic day. It’s Nature’s way of saying to us: “Hey, don't worry, you can relax, everything is fine”
