Hey Mr Derek can you test the Rockville DB13 monoblock amp. Also is it possible to play frequencies lower than what the low pass filter on a monoblock amp can be set to? Like can 40hz or 35hz be played and heard through subs if the LPF can only go as low as 50hz? A lot of monoblock amps have that limit like this one I would like for you to test.

Never seen an amplifier mention on the bass section 5Hz and 10Hz. Now that’s MY kinda bass right there! 😀

BigDWiz haven't played it under 12v tho. These amps claim to have a good protection system from heat, shorting out and low impedance. Took a while to tune the box to get the right impedance. It would go into protection every time when the impedance dropped to low.. from what I've heard these amps are allmost impossible to break because of the protection system.

I remember when Car Stereo Review did a review of a Rockford Fosgate amp that did about 800 rms and the the reviewer said that the amp should not be wasted on bass but be used on mids and highs. That 1k test makes sense to me now. By the way, it was in the issue around when the tested the Kicker Warhorse. Good review. Thanks.

how good is it? and what have you owned before that to compare it to? i got a taramps last year to replace an incriminator amp that clapped out. it was pretty decent for a good price. i got the 5k soundigital on a good deal from a friend today but idk what i want to do with it yet.

@@chehystpewpur4754 it a great amp, but! It popped a mosfet couple months ago... i ended up buying the taramps smart 5 bass, its a way better amp on my 18s runs ice cold compared to my old evo 5k... has alot more stable rms and huge rms numbers

Oh man, my wife bought those knives like 20yrs ago and told me they cost $250 and I was like why spend that much? 20 years later she tells me they were 2x that much, but they are still sharp and worth every penny 😱

They actually have a "lifetime" warranty, regardless of the ownership. You can always have them shipped to their headquarters in New York to have then replaced or sharpened for free. Good stuff.

anthony John the 3k is actually just two apcl put together internally that is why it is only two ohm stable so I could imagine it would be close to double its usual output

wow! very good amplifier! test the Ground Zero GZIA 2080HPX-II seems to be a good amplifier for the price! it's an AB class amplifier with 2 channels it is rated 60x2 at 4 ohm, 80x2 at 2 ohm and 1x240 at 4 ohm (bridge mode) all with 14.4V 1% THD it has very simple settings... cross over (lpf and hpf) and gain

7:44 I got a kit like that from Amazon recently too, except it's got black plastic instead of orange. Nice little kit. Some people said they snapped the bits, but I have a feeling that they might have been applying too much torque to them - little screws don't need nearly as much torque as large bolts.

It completely baffles me as to why they cheap out on the most important connection on the amp. It's the most obvious weak link I've ever seen, and nobody bothers to fix it. You think they would with all the blown power supplies they see.

Just looking at this video, and if I do one dual voice coil 12 or 15 I be in heaven 👍🏾👍🏾

I run a sd1200 evo on a 1500w sub. This amps stay cool and atleast in my case its durable af. I push it to the absolute limit and no heat, no protect and despite it shows clip on the indicator the sub doesnt heat and no smell or dark coil signs.

I don't think that the clip light is accurate on the 1200.1 I am running the Same setup pretty much, American bass hawk 10.d4. And the sd1200.1

My new stetsom 6000 2ohm has those flimsy adjusters as well. Going from a AP3000.1d I only feel and hear more power the AP Would thermal after bout an hour -390amp U.S Alt XSpower d7500 in my engine bay and a XSpower d3400 as a secondary so I got good current and I use Orion dual 0 Gauge to single 0 gauge input adapters. Stetsom stay cool to just warm so far that is. I went to my ported box cause I was hitting Xmax to early in my sealed box. Clip light helps would be a million times better with a remote gain knob with clip light imo. Power is clean and brutal put its s different amp with different setting knobs then I’m use to so I’m trying to find a way to get the most optimal bass usage/output. Seems to be doing it’s rated though 🙃

Hey Big D, What do you set the gain on an amp to when you test them? What I am trying to figure out is when does an amp make its peak power? I just bought the Soundigital 1200.1 but it powering an Alpine s-w12d4 which is only rated for 600 RMS. If the amp gain is turned all the way down will it still pull 1200watts if I crank my volume?

I think you would be really happy with the Orion XTR-2500.1Dz. It’s literally my favorite amp for the $$ and now they can be found for $330 or so

It would be nice if the Amp Dyno could also do a frequency sweep, so it can measure the frequency response of the amplifier, and perhaps also measure the efficiency at varying levels of load.

I agree, but it doesn’t and getting 40Hz and 1kHz gives you an idea of power for subs vs mids/highs

I've got a preproduction power series 8k that is going into my build, kind of a hybrid between the evo2 and the production power 8800

Beast of an amp!! I'm not sure I'd pay that much for that amp though. I keep hearing bad stories of reliability issues with Brazilian amps. I think I'd rather go with the Orion XTR2500.1D on that case. Great video BigD!! 👌

Keep in mind though, that, especially with the bass, the current is drawn in peaks, so the average current is less. Then again, some people seem to like to play a single low tone continuously ... XD

so when is that test gonna be uploaded. i wonder what the damping factor will be @ 1 ohm. looking at jl audios slash amps the damping factor drops when the ohm load gos down for example the 1200/1, 4 ohm @ 50 hz is 500 and 2 ohms @50 hz is 250

Hello Derreck I am talking specially about Taramps HD3000.1 (no matters the impedance) and Soundigital HD3000.1, so, full range amplifier, no for bass only. My question is if the little noise is less heardable on soundigital and if it can bored the listening at low level.

whats the temps like? the major problem with these from what ive seen around the net, is the high voltages used, and the temps cause them to over heat and burn up. so, it can make those numbers, but not for any duration... those peaks need to be intermittent. also, if the amps can tolerate 16v, can u run them at 16v and see how they perform? not to kill them, but to see if i set up an 16v system, if i can put them on the same 16v and still use them. i may not drive them to max, but still use them on 16v to avoid having a separate 14v system.

I just ordered & received Taramps md 3000 it 3 days ago it played great it was too powerful for the Single 12" 1,200 Watt SDR Series Loaded Vented Subwoofer I knew it because the sub is only rated @ 600 rms so I kept the gain & volume low. I thought I'd eventually end up blowing the sub. However, here I am 4 days after receiving the amp writing this comment to explain the amp cut off & didn't come back on it wasn't hot & it was only A few seconds into the first song of the day on my 4th day of owning it. I never played it for more than 10-15 at At A time. most times i would only play it for maybe one song. I am talking to the company now to see if I can get another one I am hoping it was A defect because it was working good the first two days

The Brazilian amps definitely put out power...I have owned a few of them for competition, but I have learned from first hand experience that they are alot more finicky and not even close to reliable as the Korean amps...

So I've recently acquired a clamp meter and Ive tried checking the current on my vehicle electrical system. For my electrical I have a CES 180amp alternator and an xs power d5100r with a big 3. When clamping my electrical, the readings that I get are no where near 180amps even while going full tilt on my 2k watt Soundsystem. Feed back is appreciated

Make sure your clamp meter supports dc,most of them read ac amps only

@@ricgaming917 of course the clamp meter reads DC. I would not have bought it otherwise. The mechanics in my area say that I shouldn't be getting a reading that matches the full output rating of my alternator

BigDWiz did the old hifonics Colossus even put out that much power? Those things were huge!

I had this amp hooked up to 2 skars 10's EVL and l though my cars was going to come apart

So D! Thanks for getting this guy up there! I had been bugging you for a little while to test one of these SD 3k's! You always deliver! So I was looking at using a 2ohm version of this amp as an upgrade to power a pair of older model Fi SSD 10's in order to have a little bit of headroom because they don't quite need a full 1500w per sub. So what is your opinion of this? I wanted a small high power amp to fit in my pick up truck since there isn't a lot of space to keep a big fat amp out of the way and protected from normal truck use. What do you say? Should I go for it? Or there a better option that is no larger than the SD that perhaps I should look at? Thanks again for the video, and I look forward to hearing your opinion.
