+EQ-smoove - Creative differences during the Down on the Upside recording sessions between Chris Cornell, who wanted to explore more of the mellow tunes that allowed him to use his vocals to their full range, and Kim Thayil, who wanted to go back to the hard and heavy and guitar-intensive sounds as before Superunknown.
@PointlessExistence.7 жыл бұрын
I'm a fan of Soundgarden from 3rd world country. I was in high school and saved money to buy their Superunknown album after i had heard the "Superunknown" track. Ever since, the band became my source of energy, it fuelled me to complete my Computer Science degree . Now, I am living in a first world country. Thank you Chris.

They made complex time sounds so natural. Too many other bands that wrote in metres other than 4/4 or 6/8 sound like you're listening to someone's math homework, but this shifts between 6/4 ans 10/4 and other time signatures without ever feeling weird. Its amazing
@AlekseyFilippovHuzzah
Жыл бұрын
I think it's because many math guys write to show off. For these guys I think it was a natural flow of the song, hence the musicality.
@oharryc
Жыл бұрын
@@AlekseyFilippovHuzzah exactly. a lot of those math guys calculate and use pen and paper to come up with the rhythms, these guys just feel it. thats why it sounds so natural

SoundGarden is one of those bands that with RARELY exceptions ALL the members are top level musicians, just like the Beatles or PinkFloyd, where all the members were talented and multifaceted. The bassist (Ben Shepherd) is a monster, the drummer (Matt Cameron) is a killer, the guitarist (Kim Thayil) is breathtaking in the tuning and complexity of the riffs, and Cornell sings like a God of Olympus, as well as playing very well, it's a band that has everything in terms of music, composition, chords, sonority, it's like a classical music show where the Maestro is rock n roll.

Its amazing
@AlekseyFilippovHuzzah

I think it's because many math guys write to show off. For these guys I think it was a natural flow of the song, hence the musicality.

As a guitar player when you take the time and dissect these riffs, melody's and juxtapose synchronicities. Soundgarden was really unorthodoxed and don't even get me started on Cornell's vocal abilities while playing said chords. It's truly unbelievable, best songwriters hands down
