Nice video. Thank you. I am working on something similar. Should the VCC on Mic go to 5v or to 3.3v? I thought the esp32 is working with 3.3v logic.....

For the Max4466 here, it gets anywhere between 2.4 & 5v to power it [according to the listing I'm looking at right now anyways], DrZzs wired it up with 5v since it would take it and he's got a convenient place to plug it in. The output from the 4466 goes into the analog pin on the ESP32 [A0]. So, if you've got he 4466, you should be able to wire it up to 3.3v if you want without a problem. If you're using a different mic or one that's digital, you'd have to wire it differently according to its needs.

Is there a way to send a line level audio signal from my computer into WLED? I'd rather not use a mic. I'm currently using version 14.0. I have xLights. But I'm still trying to figure it out. 🙂 Edited on 11/21/2023 Never mind. It was a stupid question. I see (now that I've looked more closely at the DIRECTIONS 🙂) in the setting that I could just used the analog settings. In the end, I bought some INMP441s. It works great.

good question. I haven't put one with a microphone outside. Usually I hide the controller somewhere near where the LEDs are. Either that or I put the controller close to the power supply. Totally depends on your exact project.

I've got a dig uno v3. When I plug into the A0 pin (supposedly pin 36) I get no sound reaction. I can set the pin to in the settings to 32 and lights flash randomly, but they are not responding to the music. Is your sound pin in the settings definitely 32 as it is in the video? You also hooked up to 5v and the wiki suggests 3.3v. Lastly, what flashing method do you use, and on what OS? Thanks!

@@kilarger7181 Oh man, i am now at least 16 hours deep in to this problem. Same set up as you, Dig-Uno, and MAX4466, Ive tried A0 pin, as 36, Q4 as 32, nothing i do ever gets a flicker from the SR version. i feel like im missing something and getting very frustrated by the whole thing. I have them working perfectly on normal WLED, and even Hyperion worked as described, but not matter what i do, never a single flicker on any WLED version and any combo of pins, is there another step i could be missing?

I had this issue aswell. Use the same pins he shows in the video on the Dig. Change your settings to Squelch 5 and Gain 243. I then used a small flat head on the gain screw attached to the mic itself and turned it all the way up. This is what got it working for me. Im going to flip to a digital mic tho as I have had better input luck with thos. The above method does work, however. TIP: When setting the screw turn your music up and set it to the "gravcenter" fx and go each way on the screw to see what works. I fought with this for 20 minutes or so before i sorted out the gain levels.

how so? There are effects that respond to the frequency of the sound, and others that respond to the volume. If you're looking for lights that are "Synced" to the music that requires software like "xLights".

I am pulling my hair out!, (no offence) :) I have a DigUno, a MAX4466 and SK6812 RGBW LED's. They work perfectly well on all versions of WLED, except, when I try and use an SR version, I can not get a single reaction that is SR. So, the connections go just as in this video, VCC to 5V, GND to GND, and OUT to A0. I set the analog input PIN to 36, nothing. I check, and there is indeed 5v at the MAX4466, I try various different MAX4466's, nothing. I move PIN A0 to Q4, and update the pin number to 32, reboot, nothing. I try powering from the 3V PIN, test it, getting just over 3V to the MAX4466, both pin configs as above, nothing. Its like I'm banned from using it, or there are a ton of secret setting I just don't know. I'm very frustrated and sad and annoyed at how long I've spent on this, and still have nothing to show for it. Does anybody have any idea what else I can try please?

WLED sound reactive is very poor, doesn't react how sound reaction supposed to be, hardly to keep with the beat, unless the volume is set to loud, and when set to loud it's not reacting, only flickering lol
