    These are so similar I don't think I could pick you or the other out in a blind test. The Aria is maybe a little smoother but thats about it. Crazy

    The differences are noticeable when it comes to clarity and soundstage: the Arias are a bit opened and refined, more transparent. The Choras sound a bit muffled, but just in comparison with their pricier sister. On their own, the 806s are truly amazing, given their price bracket. The Arias have more neutral bass, but with better separation between notes and much detail and definition in the low end. Arias are more balanced overall, with cleaner and more open mid-range, refined treble, too. Truly amazing, but the Choras are not far behind, with more bass and grunt. Really good speakers, in their own categories, for sure. Also, I'm noticing a faster attack and sharper transients in the Arias.

    I haven't seen every video posted on this channel, but the 906 seems to be one of the most easy going and versitail. Full, yet clear midrange, although a tad on the smooth side...? Treble seems sliiigthly rolled of in the top end (compared to many others at least, wich sounds elevated), and the transition to bass is very good.

    Considering the new price of the choras, I am not really seeing the value proposition in the arias. I really believe the choras are serious value and the arias are lacking a little compared to the competition. Plus, for a speaker that is 3X the price, I would expect to see a step up from cheese for a crossover.

    The 806 has fuller bass and a boosted lower midrange which draws my attention to the 906's smooth upper midrange. High frequencies are equal.

    Thank you Professor E 😊. This demo shows clearly that these two speakers (soundwise) are way more similar than different. I think the 806s are a bit more neutral (cooler) than te 906s and i think the 906s are a touch softer and smoother. It's not a biggie and at US prices the 806s for the win. At sensible prices it's a nuanced choice with build being better on the 906s. In terms of overall performance in E's top tier its getting quite challenging to pick a winner with the 806s, the R200s and the M16 all being very capable AND offering excellent value. My prefence according to these videos : R3s>R200s>806s>M16s. BUT I'd really like hear the M16s with a few different amps to see if its character changes significantly. AND I think thart R200svs806s is a tough call. The R200s are built like a tank and are clearly very good speakers. BUT when I heard them, while being technically great, I can't say I was bowled over by the sound (they seemed very dry sounding). I found the 806s quite a pleasant listen and not forward at all. The M16s are rather bassy and smoothed off but personal taste will dictate. The R3s are hard to fault if you like a technically very correct speaker thaty's easy to listen to but fairly expensive and maybe a bit boring for some.

    Aria 906 is the winner for me. There's a bit more meat on the bones for female vocals with this speaker. Also for the first song, the sizzle of the 806 on the cymbals is too hot for me. 906 brings that down but retails the detail, maybe even has a bit more because like the female vocals, it add more weight to it which kept it from sounding thin.

    IRL the 906 sounds amazing, precise treble, exceptional presence speaker with fast and drier bass. it doesn't have as much bass as the 806, but the 806 doesn't keep its deepest sounds under such control. you can also feel in its treble that it is a cheaper speaker, but it got enough of the 906's exceptional sense of presence.

    The Choras are brighter, airier, have more soundstage depth and width, and distinctly punchier, pulpier bass. The Arias are a bit sweeter, more refined and forward in the center midrange. Sometimes I think too forward. The Choras are surely a better value if you feel you would enjoy their overall presentation on all the types of recordings you listen to.

    They're very close. On the first two tracks I couldn't even hear the transition. On Boost Your Power the 806 sounds brighter and more forward. On Higher Love the 806 sounds deeper and punchier in the bass, and on Leroy there's more weight to the lower horns providing the foundation for the solo trumpet, but that trumpet also sounds leaner on the 906. On Pull Me Closer and Punk, the 806 sounds punchier and more forward, while the 906 sounds more balanced and refined. This trend continues on through the remainder of the tracks, with the 806 being punchier, more forward and lively, and the 906 being more detailed, balanced, composed, and refined. On Time Traveling though, the 906 has more of the nuance and expression in the vocals that should be there, and which is glossed over some by the 806. And, on Fields, the guitar is also more expressive on the 906, as well as being more airy, spacious, and three dimensional sounding. It's a tough call as to which I prefer, since there are aspects of both I like. If I could combine the punch and liveliness of the 806 with the detail and refinement of the 906 that would be ideal. That would also likely be the R3, lol. As it is, I prefer the 906 to the 806, but not at almost four times the price- $599 vs. $2199.

    In Europe, France you can now get Chora 806 for about 300 euros a pair and Aria 906 for about 650 euros a pair.

  • @DougMen1

    @DougMen1

    Жыл бұрын

    @@jari121 Until recently, when the 806 went on sale here, it was $1000 a pair, and the 906 has always been $2200. Almost all European speakers cost a lot more here than there, but Focal is the worst offender, charging twice as much here for no apparent reason. The best are KEF, Elac, and maybe Dali, which only charge a bit more here. Most others, including Wharfedale, B&W, and Monitor Audio, as well as Q Acoustics and others, cost quite a lot more here. Monitor Audio is because they have an independent North American distributor that jacks up the price so they can make a hefty profit, But, from what I can tell, the others are all self distributed, so there's no reason for it, other than greed and price gouging. And, it isn't because of shipping or logistics, because they all cost a lot less even in Asia than here, except maybe Japan, where everything costs a lot more than everywhere else (except Australia, where everything also costs a fortune). Even many American speakers, like Polk, cost less in Europe than the US, even though in many European countries, the general average income level and standard of living are higher than in the US.
