Both are very good, but the soundstage of the CXA81 is outstanding
Amazing soundstage with the CXA81, I almost feel like I am hearing the song in stereo on my headphones from the original recording. Bravo!!

Can you do CXA81 with Audiolab 6000a?

Sure, I will make a video soon, thanks
There's a touch more presence in the mids for the CXA61, where the CXA81 is better defined and balanced.
Really impressed by the cxa81 basswise
Oh wow, I was sure it was the opposite! CXA81 by a MILE! The midrange is so sweet. Flabbergasted, definitely go for the 81.
Bravo. Tests are performed correctly (AB method).
Can someone explain this to me? The CXA81 has a maximum output of 80w per channel, while the CXA61 has a maximum output of 60w per channel. However, according to that readout they are both averaging about 70db (CXA81 is actually a little lower), but the volume knobs are at about the same level. If anything the CXA81 volume knob looks like it might be positioned a little higher and the average db is reading a little lower. How is this possible? Wouldn’t the output be relative from min to max, and the less output 61 need to work a little harder to reach the same average db?
Are you playing through the internal DACs or the analog inputs?
I prefer 81 thank you!!!
Which one will you prefer for an Elac Carina bookshelf?? CXA61 OR CXA81?? Thanks
I hope the 81 is as good with the Kef q350 … amp, kef and SVS 1000 Pro sub due to arrive here in a couple days. So excited!
I have the CX61 together with LS50 original, Marantz CD 6004 player (+usb) Audioquest Rocket 11 speakercable and SVS 1000 pro subwoofer and the sound is heaven. The difference that we hear here is the DAC there is a better one in the CX81 the question is is it worth the extra cost? The same with the LS50 the difference between the original and the Meta is so little but the price difference is very big. Check out this difference here LS50 (last generation ) versus LS50 Meta.
Would like to hear CXa81 vs Audiolab 8300a 😀😀 Hands down. CXa81 win here!
I don’t know why, but there is a difference in the min signal levels. Does it mean that 61 has better dynamic range?
Seems slight differences, perhaps more extention of upper mids and highs on 81 and smoother mids on the 61? Probably depends alot on speaker, room and source as well.
It would be useful to know what source you're using for the music.
I got Dali Epicon2, recently, I consider CXA81 adapter my speaker,I do not know if it is better
Could that difference given by the different Dac?
Same difference than my Marantz amp PM 66 SE KI (CXA81) in comparison to my Marantz SR4021 (CXA61). Really fascinating how the stage improves with the better amp !
To me the cxa81 is more accurate and true and has better soundstage.
The 81 sounds clearer and brighter to me and the 61 is warmer, but is maybe more natural, IMO. The 61 also seems to maybe have more definiton and note separation, while instruments seem to smear together more on the 81. The 61 also seems to have better bass and more punch. I think I prefer the 61 overall
I have just tested both the 61 and the 81. 61 has a thicker sound and a slightly ‘bigger’ presence but the 81 has better clarity especially in the top end. Different sound signatures. Both are excellent.

With a thicker sound, do you think the CXA 61 would be a better fit for smaller, bookshelf speakers for lows and mids. I tend to like brighter speakers but an overly energetic amp with more pronounced upper mids is too much. Prefer a smoother but well articulated midrange and tight lows vs muddy. Thanks.

Done the same today and am considering sending the CXA-81 back. All the warmth and enjoyment seems to have been sucked out of some of my favourite songs. Will give it another listen tomorrow. On first impressions the CXA-61 was excellent. Here less convincing so far...
For the second track I prefered B until it was unveiled, then I preferred the CXA81 which was A....

Silly. I think part of the difference can be explained by the slightly toed in left speaker with the CXA81 you get a more alive high frequency that way. It is also a bit closer to the amp. I should have paid closer attention to the back ground. White KEF=CXA81
They are identical in articulation, I can notice thath the 81, is a little more "deeper" in the soundstage.
I really can't judge based on the small bookshelf speakers in the test; how about larger towers? It may make a big difference.

the lintons is a great standart speaker to make this kind of test, because are bigger and now ist a best seller 3 way speaker. great job and continue please.
this was so easy to guess
The 61 sound thinner, than the 81. The 81 has a fuller presentation, which is probably due to the extrs oomph. Better control of the Kef drivers!
What source are you using? Is it connected to the amps digital input? Would you have another go but using the same DAC for both?

That would be interesting. Level the DAC playing field between these two using the same quality external DAC of your choosing. At that point I wouldn't want a recorded video to tell the tale. I'd want to hear in person. I've demoed a lot of gear that may pair well with a certain setup but not work well in another room with something else. Amps have a way of getting the best or worst or meh out of speakers.
I prefer B (CXA61) sound with fuller low frequencies
Better mid-range in the cxa81 for an analytical sound, but I prefer the cxa61 for a slightly "V" curve sound, with what I am hearing through my speakers and amplifiers. With cxa81 I would ramp the tone controls a bit, which I would not with the cxa61. To each his own.

No tone controls on either. The older cx60 and cx80 had them. Cambridge ditched them in the newer cxa61 and cxa81
For me 61. P. S. Also I would like to point out that the volume of the CXA81 amplifier is higher than the CXA61
The CXA81 sounds richer and a less midrange forward. Soundsage changes seem a bit oddl, so I think the mic placement or something changed a bit.

Sound stage, I meant
CXA 61 has forward midrange, IMO to forward. Maybe Meta speakers are not the right choice for CXA61. CXA81 has that equilazer sound, warmer. Bass is the same.

🤔🎧🎶🎶🎶CXA81✌🏻👍👍👍👍👍✌🏻🇵🇱
With these particular speakers (which i absolutely love them) the cxa-81 is the clear winner , hands down. However, If you are going to drive more efficient speakers like the klipsch rp-600m (which i also love) expect a much smaller gap between those two amps.
Еще бы информацию, каким способом подключено ?

Все таки слишком большая разница в звучании..
Hello, thanks for the comparison, in your opinion which one has better sound? What are their differences? Thanks.

dont you find it annoying when you ask good questions, but they completely get ignored, but they leave a like tho, lol smh

One sounds like this and the other like that. Oh. And if you go to a dealer that has these, it will sound nothing like this or that. But will sound like it does.
Two different DAC's in these two units, that would be the biggest difference one would hear.....
Cxa61 more mids, cxa81 sounds wormer to me, both sounds really good
Why from analog source
A for me
81 much better but song and speakers are NOT suitable for a test. it's all nasal. Both Cambridge cuts dynamic but 81 shows a wider spectrum. 61 is exasperatedly COMPRESSED

KEF with their Uni-Q design are very tricky in such a test. They can sound amazing in real life. I would have used a more neutral speaker like a B&W 603 or so.
I am playing this on hifi gear but it sounds like a cheap phone... :D
The 81 has a much wider and richer sound.
cxa81 by a lot of margin.
CX A 61 The sound is better Expanded ....number one.
Sound comparison via KZread lol.
В 81 чип , в 61 нет... И это даёт точности больше...
Please, when you do blind tests, don't change something else than the amps. Here you changed the position of the camera and the speakers in the background. That changes the recorded sound at once and makes the whole video useless, sorry. There should be no hearable difference between both amps.
Absolutely no difference
