Super tasty jam, dude! The aeolian mode sounds good, but I found myself gravitating towards D dorian (C major) to get get flat 7th in the D-7 chord.

Good ears! It's a 1 b7 3 #5 or A | G | C# | E# Very simple to play... Using tring number & ret number: A/1: S5 & F0 (open) | G/b7: S4 & F5 | C#/3: S3 & F6 | #5/E# S2 & F6 Yes, he thumbs the root on S6 & F5 but 5 open is easier. The missing # 9 would be a B# ( or a C). The b7 is a bG#! (a G)... Hope this helps!!!

Yes, it does have that off-putting floaty impression but it is Dm. If you play the D and G natural minor scales (or Dm and Gm pentatonic minor scales), you will hear the Dm scale fits but the Gm has an D#/Eb which clashes. G Dorian does fit. Hope this helps!
