For a long time he used just 4.. took 2 off. His signature guitars came with 4 strings as well and that gave a lots of headaches to sellers, etc

Some people were going so far as to say it’s not Max playing the song because he’s using all six strings. It’s totally him. Comparing the notes in the song to where he was placing his hands on the fretboard, he needed those 2 extra strings. You can’t really play this song with just 4 strings. You would need all 6. And why would Max let someone else play his songs for him when he’s perfectly capable of doing it? That’s not how he does things.

So many people in the comments are shocked by Max using all 6 strings now instead of 4. Musicians have the ability to grow and change their minds if they want to. He’s using the extra strings to great effect as he’s playing notes that he didn’t usually play before. Sounds great!

One note from BB king say more than all the notes that the shredders from this "modern metal" can do using 10 strings in a whole album. He changed the four strings to six because he is doing more since Psychosis and Ritual, he is like Tony Iommi, a riff master. Not a pro tools child following tendencies to get on the stage. Kids should have more respect for the man who did history, and still doing. And eat that if they don't like it. Max is huge. Totem will be one more classic for his career.

Seen this band on hate2k tour sept 11 2002 with Slayer and In Flames we all thought the show'd be cancelled, yknow 1 yr anniversary and all. Max was so loud then he filled the venue with brutal Soulfly tracks could drown the venue without a mic, what a fkn legend, horns up 🤘

Gosto muito dos trabalhos do Max pós sepultura, e muitos fazem parte da minha playlist do dia a dia! Experimentem malhar/puxar ferro ouvindo Soulfly e Cavalera Conspiracy! Eu só fico meio desapontado com essas músicas tocadas ao vivo, onde o Max parece apenas falar ao invés de cantar! E varias músicas onde ele para de tocar guitarra do nada. Eu sei que a vida é dele e ele faz o que quiser, más eu torço para que ele se cuide um pouco mais, perder peso etc, tanto para melhorar a performance como pensando a longo prazo (sim, a saúde do corpo físico tem tudo haver, e tocar confortável no estúdio, com aguinha e arzinho é outra coisa) . Já perdemos figuras importantes por bobeira ... vida longa Max.

Cara, concordo demais com seu comentário ...tenho minha teoria que o Max mudou muito o estilo depois do Roots, principalmente o fato de que alguns riffs eram feitos em uma corda. Sem sobra de duvidas é uma sonoridade matadora, mas o jeito que ele toca ao vivo tenta emular os riffs gravados em "power cords" em uma corda as vezes não dá certo, somado ao condicionamento físico tende a piorar a situação. Enfim ... vida longa a lenda que é o Max.

Well we all saw he used to play fine in sepultura but the flack has been his recent years live performances his guitar is barley audible. Sure we can say it's definitely his choice.

While I agree that he can do whatever he wants live, it does hinder their show a little, I saw them back in 2017 if I remember correctly, and was a little disappointed that max didn't play that much and that his guitar was barely audible. However, all the respect to Max for putting out music for decades now, and while I'm not Brazilian, I am from south America, so I'm quite proud of him for putting south America in the heavy metal map!
