"Oh no... every time you turn up, something monumental and terrible happens. I don't think I have the stomach for it." It's funny that Raziel has been pursuing Kain through time in search of vengeance, but by now he's just plain sick of Kain's shit. Doubly funny when you remember Raziel doesn't "have the stomach" for _anything._

I just love how Raziel is so profound and intelligent, but at the same time a smartass. Their personalities mesh rather well considering Kain isn't one to be humorous and more leans on the serious side of things. I could see Raziel more lightening the mood back before everything happened, their relationship being complex but a trusting one because both could give each other shit in equal turn.

This was a fantastic scene. It's the first time Raziel and Kain talk without Raz's righteous demands for revenge overshadowing the conversation. And I love Raziel's flippant sarcasm throughout. I wonder if this is more like a conversation he and Kain would have had in private back when he was the favored son? And I loved Raziel's personality throughout these games. He always latched on to anything that gave him meaning. First he was the greatest of Kain's lieutenants. Then he clung to the imagined righteousness of the Saraphan. After that it was a bit less clear but I think he planted his flag on the idea of being some champion of the ancient vampires until he learned they worshipped his "Former Master."

For those wondering, why it wouldn't be better if Kain sacrificed himself: The pillars were raised by vampires, and only vampires can truly preserve them. A guardian was chosen at the moment of his birth. Because no new vampires were born, vampires bestowed the dark gift on the humans, that were supposed to serve the pillars. I'm pretty sure Kain never loathed raziel. He provoced him to let the events of sr1 unfold, but when that was done, he could finally drop the sharade. When they met at the pillars, Kain didn't say he hated him. He said Raziel can hate him IF he's sincere about it. In Defiance Kain is shocked when Moebius turns out to be his son and immediately tries to pull his sword out. They truly are wanderers on the path of destiny. And I'm sure Kain likes his sweet baby boy (to quote Zephons implications).

@@Teixas666 I wouldn't say that the Elder God would want to see Nosgoth fall exactly, he's more of a voracious parasite feeding off of every soul that passes into the afterlife hence why he manipulates events unseen (remember; he's practically invisible to all but a select few such as Raziel for example) calculating all the chances that lives will be lost so he won't go hungry. And if he suspected for one instant that destroying Nosgoth would feed his appetite for souls, he'd do it in an instant. In that regard, he's like Varney/Death from the Netflix Castlevania series where he manipulated everything so that he could feed on the lifeforce of every living being since the dawn of time.
