Soul Dualism: Ancient Theories of Soul

The idea of a soul, or an immaterial spiritual essence at the core of every person, is one of the central ideas of many world religions and systems of philosophy. This video explores how different ancient cultures thought about the soul, and how ideas about the soul developed overtime and how they still influence modern society.

Hey! You mentioned something about studying Ancient Greece, so I was wondering if you did this at a university and if so then could you tell me what sort of jobs/ opportunities you can get from this? (I'm asking because I would also like to study latin and greek when I finish high school, but I'm still not sure if it is a good choice, even though I would love to do this) An answer form a person who already studied this would be very helpful

Unfortunately this is just a passion project for me, but I would definitely encourage you to pursue the classics if it's something that really interests you! Just be aware if you go that route the competition will be tough, and you may have to compromise on stuff like pay if you want a job as a historian or teacher. I'd consider a major in philosophy and minor in classics studies, that way if a career in academia doesn't pan out you have a good degree that's useful in the real world.

Dear Dariusoprea, from a couple of comments ago, I'm told by the Pythia at Delphi that there's an awful lot of money to be made from running a successful oracle, but you need a hotline to Apollo and a suitably atmospheric spot to build your temple. Failing that teaching and academia or running a brilliant KZread channel like Nothing New are good careers. Or just enjoy the beauty of knowledge for its own sake and sell car insurance. (By the way you aren't the returning soul of a rather famous Persian are you?)

Hassan-i Sabbah(1054 - June 12, 1124), the Iranian leader of the order of assassins claimed that “nothing is true and everything is permitted” and that the entire QURAN and the SHARIA LAW was a Noble Lie. Well, this obviously meant to Sabbah that Allah was an Elusive God and that it was Ok to “PLUNDER” their enemies appropriately. No wonder humanity has been plundering and creating Wars before Biblical times to create their personal Paradise and delineate their territory over time by threats, intimidations, and coercion. No wonder some consumers can’t afford to pay inflated rent anymore and are forced to migrate to other countries to keep on “Plundering, legally,” in order to control profits.
