Souber ‘Offset’ Jig Attachment | £49 Locksmith Strikes Again | Nightlatch Repairs - Locksmith

#locksmith #emergencylocksmith #locksmithbrighton
In this episode………..It’s another day in the life of a locksmith 😊
I attend a job for a property management company to deal with a failed night latch in Brighton
I also attend a job in Shoreham after the customer had locked herself out but unknowingly called a £49 locksmith, who unnecessarily obliterated her lock to gain entry!! I had to go and put it right.
And I also fit a deadlock for a customer in Worthing and used the Souber jig with the ‘Off Set attachment’ See how that goes!!!!!!

Nice neat work Andy, - It's a pleasure to be the first person to work on a lovely new solid wood door like that, not having to circumnavigate old holes and other people's mess-up's... - I actually just did 5 mortice sash-locks today, all for one customer, - only one of them was a fresh install, but I was still gutted I didn't have a morticer jig to use on it. Got to gets me the Souber kit, I'm thinking. - It's not a lot of money and once you've used it once or twice, it's a justified purchase... These 49-ers are becoming 59-ers more often than not around here. must be so much better for that extra tenner... - I know everybody loves a bargain, but why do people still think that they are going to get away with calling a locksmith, at god knows what time of day, and only pay a £39/£49/£59 bill? - I thought the consumer was supposed to be savvy nowadays, - I wish they were in our industry. (Blood boiling again... but rant over, this feels like a safe place.) - Keep up the great content Andy 💪

Thanks George. Yes you must get yourself the Souber Jig. It might take a couple of uses before you get to grips with it but once you do it’s well worth using mate. Yeah I wish there was a way of alerting the consumer of the scammers! And like you say, can they really believe it’ll cost that little?? 🤷🏻‍♂️

I've said it before and I'll say it again "I love my mortice jig". The four bits for mine start out at 18.5mm and go up to 25mm. I am feeling inspired to pick up a 30mm cutting bit myself after watching this. Andy you are the kind of tradesman that puts faith back into ther public. My daughter has just been done over badly by a dodgy plumber. She asked if there are any honest tradesmen out there. I told her absolutely there are, I was thinking of you buddy. I am going to point her to your channel to restore her faith 😉.

Great video, Paul souber. Makes some great tools, Just wanted to tell you when you chop in mortise locks right we’re the middle rail Your chopping away the dowels or tenon. That holds that rail into the door stile. Play it safe. And off set it in future….

I would use a letter box tool if the door had a letter box. If it didn’t the lock would have to be Micky Moused open. Unless it’s an outward opening door…….Sometimes you can get lucky and air wedge it 👍🏼

Okay you Mickey Mouse it drill two holes either side to get to the screws, But the body of the lock is expose now even if you put a screwdriver in there it would not turn because it’s deadlocked.

    2 жыл бұрын

@@lambertomidolini8027 that’s correct. So you then drill another hole through the back plate of the lock to expose the snib. The easiest way to do this is to buy Gav’s Snib Mouse Tool from Abby Locks and Security online shop here: www.abbeylocks.co.uk/store/ Enter the code Lockswood10 for 10% off You can buy from the store as long as you are a trading Locksmith or locksporter.

Not a criticism, but you should never install a mortice lock in the mid rail of a wooden door, it can destroy the tenon & weaken the door

  • @brighton_locksmith

    @brighton_locksmith

    2 жыл бұрын

Thanks Daz. This is an engineered veneered door so it doesn’t matter where the lock goes as there are no mortice or tenons. I am aware that if the door was a traditional solid wooden door that you should start away as much as possible from the mortise and tenons. Thanks for watching buddy 😊🙏🏼

  • @jamesmacdonald5881

If the door has been made correctly middle rail should have a twin mortice and tenon with enough space for lock to fit in between.
