    Probably one of the best SOTA videos I've seen. Great production value.

    I found EF a grat HF antena and I built stationary version for my home QTH. I suppose to make another one, more compact for outdoor activities. Thanks for nice video 👍🏻

    I have the same antenna. It was from LNR Precision. I’ve had it six years now… it always performs. For the KX2, I prefer a random wire. They say, gray hair requires a little more oxygen, thats all. de W7UDT

    Eric, nice to hear from you. You and I both get to see some really beautiful places when activating. And DX is the icing on the cake. 73

    I’ve had the same antenna for several years… It works well with my KX2, and it’s easy to deploy. Coincidentally, my longest QRP contact was with the LNR precision 20/30/40 TF & KX2 to a ham 30 kilometers south of Tokyo, a gray line prop QSO. Thanks for the video!

    Randall, those are the most ! Nice setup with the LNR. I have always been a linked dipole guy, however one less thing to do on a summit I am in 👍. Thanks for sharing your antenna setup 73.

    I just used one of these antennas for my first POTA this weekend. It worked great with my 705. I had to shorten it several inches to get it resonant in the 40M CW band, worked like a charm on 20. Nice, light, easy to deploy. CW for me when QRP, you are a glutton for punishment....lol.

    @whippersnappercc, I agree, super easy. small and workable are key as you know. I had not thought of this antenna for POTA, I need to try that on a few and see how it goes. GREAT idea. Punishment is my second middle name 😉 Thank you for sharing! 73

    I saw a good Jeep winch mod for an antenna mast mount that would work for you. Pinch a pipe portion between the cable and the bumper, similar to a receiver hitch mast mount but on the cheap. You could probably use a section of PVC pipe

    Head up improves respiration as well. Props for getting out there. You'll be in shape in no time if you keep it up. I divide my time between Alpine UT and Incline Village NV. Hope to see you out there some day. I often hike with Derek, who is about 70. I'm only 54, but I was having trouble keeping up with him when I started doing SOTA last winter. 73 de K7DMJ

    Don't you love those ankle burners. My first hike is this week 11 km round trip, gradual climb though to get in shape for my season. Well done testing new antenna too. vk5cz ..

    Enjoyed your deployment. You are the man. Where did you purchase your antenna? Tommy N4KBM Two mast, what size?

  • @hamradiowithkevin

    @hamradiowithkevin

    2 жыл бұрын

    Thank you for the reminder Tommy. I just added the antenna gear to the description of this video. The shorter closer mast I only deployed 6 feet or so. The exact model of my masts might not be available, they seem to change very often. ( The two masts are 21 feet max. I have 3 of those masts when i want to put up a dipole flat and not as an inverted V. I use mostly 28 awg wire on my dipoles to keep them as lite as possible ) Hope this helps 73 Kevin
