Sorting gold plated circuit boards. There are different prices so SHOP AROUND!

Hello scrappers and planet lovers. In this video, I help sort my gold plated circuit boards to get the maximum profit for each. There are different prices and categories at different scrapyards so shop around. I did do some quick phone calls and could make 13 times more at one scrapyard.

I did several: stripping vacuum cleaner chords and “what wire are worth stripping, I do the work so you don’t have to” As you will see in the vacuum cleaner one is that you actually loose a lot of weight from removing the outer wire. Although you do make more money from 60% it is based on weight.

Great video , I’ve got about 600 kg of boards saved up in my shed I think I need to go through them and sort them out into the different grades

Nice, yeah they do add up and unfortunately take up a lot of space. I was glad I was able to get the prices mentioned instead of the 7 cents a pound. Stay well and happy scrapping. keep me posted on the different piles and prices you get.

There's so much to get into here. Mlcc's are not always capacitors. Next to it on the board will be either a "c" for capacitor or an "r" for resistor. Resistors don't have palladium but do contain a small amount of silver. They are processed the same though and can be done together. Those hard drives have a metal arm in them that contain a pure gold bond wire. It's a lot of work but if you have a lot of them or can get them, it's worth collecting the gold from them. There's a ton more I've learned but I won't bore everybody with a book in the comments. Great video. You could probably strip everything and still get $0.07/lb. If so, id do it....

Could sell online to places like Boardsort.com but for me being in Canada, shipping costs too high to make a profit!

Its so frustrating to see all these scrappers on youtube breaking this stuff down like this. Not ONE of the scrap yards around me have their scrap broken down like this. Circuit boards for example. doesn't matter how much gold is on it they only pay out e-waste prices. So I just hold onto what I have. For copper and aluminum they only have dirty and clean as well as extruded for aluminum but its not separated any more than that.

@@3rdgenjunkies57 yeah I want to do like a bunch of videos show of different methods of essentially refining the metals out of the boards first. I have quite a few commercial boards that appear to have a very high gold content (they are industrial satellite/cell communication boards from the 90's when gold was pretty cheap) but I still don't think it would be enough after trial and error to make it worth the time and money.

It is amazing how scrapyards payout and sort. As mentioned, went to the scrapyard on Sat. Feb. 17 in London and got 0.40lb for nynodinium drives, 0.90lb motherboards (with cpu chip and heat sink removed) and 0.70lb for gold plated side fingers. Way better than ewaste price of 0.07lb for all of it in Sarnia

@@TinManScrapper Your scrap yards do all that, and mine only give the junk e-waste price. And they wouldn't even entertain taking magnets of any kind.🥲

The small batteries on the computer boards. Is there anything special about those? Is there a way to recycle those in Canada or the United States? I have a pound if them but I dont know what to do with them. Love the videos please keep up the scrapping.

the little silver coin ones are not accepted for monetary value at the scrapyard, but they will take them free of charge to recycle

Here we get 5 cents a pound for circuit boards with no precious metals on them. if there was gold fingers on the board that had tin soddering then probably close to 45 cents a pound. Circuit boards, because there are so many varieties have to most often be looked at and judged by the people working the scale for exact price. Hope that helps. Stay well and thanks for the question.
