Big thanks. The table_prefix value in front of the meta_key for _capabilities and _user_level was driving me up the walls at 1am. All solved now, and I learned something after using WP for 12 years. Thank you.

Hi. I faced this exact same issue right now [timestamp: 10h18 am; Sat/27/FEB/2021] and after trying the above, still nothing worked... I then cleared my CACHE and BROWSER COOKIES and on refreshing... It works! I got the same problem after uninstall some plugins. I followed this video step by step and get my admin page back by changing database prefix back and forth. That's it for me. Valuable Clip. You saved my job!

For me was a cookies and Cache problem. I erased the history, cookies and cache from Browser and restart the computer and voilá, problem solved. I realized it because I looked into the error blog and it says that was a cache error. Thank you so much!

Thank you for this!!! I got to the usermeta part in and for some reason it only had 3 tables in it, the bottom 3. Fortunately I had a recent database backup (lost 1 day of work but no other choice it seems). I restored the database and could access admin again. Then all pages except them home page were missing on frontend so I went to admin > settings > permalinks and saved without changing any settings and they all appeared again... phew! ... Now... to redo all of yesterdays work... .. . gulp! Thanks again

Thanks a lot...editing the role in the db worked for me. For some reason it had changed from admin to instructor_pending...

Here is my solution so i made a wordpress local with uppercase prefix when i import the mysql it changed into lowercase so just change it to uppercase on webhosting. don't change on wp-config or you get error change in phpmyadmin.

Editing capabilities via mysql solved my problem. Thanks a bunch!

Hi, I cut out the data prefix now I can’t log in through godaddy or my Wordpress admin, wtd?

7:21 Mine turned out to be that the prefix listed within the usermeta was capitalized whereas the actual prefix was lower case. Changing the data to match worked. IE: prefix_capabilities (EG: it was PreFIX_ whereas the table was prefix_) changine to prefix_capabilities.

what if you're hosting on aws via bitnami?

In my case, with administrator account, I can access with no problem, but when other user (editor mode) try, this error shows up.

The problem occur when I install n active certain plugins

unfortunately it didnt work for me. I tried all the options you suggested. I had already gone through tons of other videos and google. As a last resort I contacted the hosting support and they were able to resolve this in a matter of seconds.

Still doesn't work for me after all the steps. I do appreciate your video and time tho. :) I did a full reset in Wordpress and imported a new website within that same wordpress. I think that messed up the logins or something. I really hope that I can fix this problem today,..it's been a week. Thanks for the help

Greeting, i have been searching online to identify how i could solve this problem of accessing my backend. Currently, when i try logging in the backend i am redirected to the home page. How can i solve it?

That actually happened to me yesterday (only time ever), page went white with a message like that, but pretty sure it was quite a bit different message. I was working on the site at the time when it crashed. I noticed that I received an email right away telling me there was problems, so I didn't even have time to start my google search troubleshooting process. The email gave me a link to log in, in recovery mode. It brought me to the plugin page, Wordfence had already been deactivated because it caused the problem. Wordfence said it needed to be updated, so I updated it, reactivated it, and no problems since.

Unfortunately I can't find a good website that explains the process. Here's the text from my email, coming from Wordpress@electronzap.com and omitting links... Howdy! Since WordPress 5.2 there is a built-in feature that detects when a plugin or theme causes a fatal error on your site, and notifies you with this automated email. In this case, WordPress caught an error with one of your plugins, Wordfence Security. First, visit your website (electronzap.com/) and check for any visible issues. Next, visit the page where the error was caught ::link deleted:: and check for any visible issues. Please contact your host for assistance with investigating this issue further. If your site appears broken and you can't access your dashboard normally, WordPress now has a special "recovery mode". This lets you safely login to your dashboard and investigate further. ::link deleted, I ended up clicking this link because my website just had the white screen of death, it brought me to the plugin page and had deactivated the problem plugin til I updated it and it started working fine:: To keep your site safe, this link will expire in 1 day. My elemontor is giving problem. when i disable it works ok. so now what i have to do with this as i want elementor and dont want to remove it further my home page is on elementor and i am not pro so it will be will difficult to make it again.

thanks a lot. in my case was standard wp_capabilities but my db prefix was 1231242141_. change db prefix to wp_ solved the problem. so my advise to all check your db prefix

I have watched hundreds of WP videos and this is, I believe, the most important of all. Useful information. What I do not understand is how can an error like the one you showed us suddenly appear on a WP site. How can the user details change this way? Is this a hacking issue or something else?

Hi Gina, It can be due to hacking, or an incomplete site transfer or a plugin that can alter user roles. The last one sounds a little nefarious, but lots of legitimate plugins do that, even Elementor. And if those legitimate plugins are out of date or have a conflict with another plugin, this error can occur. I hope that helps, let me know if you have any further questions. Thanks for watching!

I changed my website URL - I did this from the godaddy DNS settings to link with Hostgator server settings and changed wordpress config.php with updated URL, I then receive an error message saying Sorry, this page doesnt exist please check the URL or go back a page 404. error. Page not Found
