This warm up is meant to be pretty comprehensive in what it covers. Starts off easily enough with a five note scale. Proceeds on to one of my favorite tone balancing exercises and eventually covers the upper register in a number of exercises including tonal onsets that are over the secondo passaggio (the break.)
Finishes up with a lovely melismatic minor chord cool down to settle your voice down for your songs!
Enjoy!

I like Jeff better than the rest bc he doesn't try too much... just straight vocal warm ups without the extra dramatic stuff! 😊

Life can be so dramatic without adding to it, I always say! Enjoy!
I love your warm up videos and use them daily!!! It's so difficult to find good videos from people who understand the vocal mechanism, tone balance, the entire body's involvement in producing that sound, and appropriate warmups and warmup sequencing. I've recommended your channel to other vocalists I know and they've also found great use in them! Thank you Jeff!!! You're the best.

Finally an agility exercise! I’ve been searching for the right one. I’m learning a coloratura role, and this is so helpful!
Really enjoying the lava lamp - oh - and the warm up too, thank you!
This agility video has greatly improved my issues I had with agility. Thank you Jeff!
thank u for teaching
Not easy, exercise 5.00 I E A O OU
Amazing! I loved doing the last 2 exercises
Thank you, Jeff. These soprano agility exercises get a bit more challenging but I am confident that if I do them conscientiously, all the very high soprano notes I do posess will become more flexible, less foggy and more usable to sing a few soprano so gs I like but previously had to content myself with hearing others sing well, because I believed I simply could never get such vocal agility myself on very high notes. But I might try again now, even if just for my own private enjoyment, not to inflict badly sung soprano songs on others to endure listening to sticky, foggy sounding high notes.
Love all your lessons. This one is SUPER WOW. Some really different things in this one. I feel I am coming on leaps and bounds with your absolutely top class coaching.

On vacation this week, so being able to vocalize daily with these keeps my voice in shape despite not practicing as usual. Thanks Jeff.
I like to play this in 1.5 speed haha 😄
Excellent vocal warm up! I have been working on keep my larynx relaxed all through my range and vowel formations and this was a perfect way to combine the warm up with focus on the tone placement and larynx position! Thank you!!

Oh Thanks Jeff. I really enjoy watching you when you play the scales on the piano. Your so calm and that makes me calm. I get so nervous and tense when I perform (sometimes). Do you have any video's about stage fright ? What happens to me is I get a bit nervous (even though I know the song) then my neck tenses which makes my breath support and phrasing mess up? I was just wondering. Also I would like to see your live lessons. Bless You Jeff x
My favorite go to!
Thank you so much! And such a lovely minor exercise too!
I enjoy your way of vocal warmup and like to practice with you. Thank you!

Hi Jeff! Thank you so much for this vocal video... I enjoyed it SO much and look forward to using it regularly. You've created it to be challenging, yet manageable... which will allow me to grow in strengthening my vocals. God bless you!

Loved this one! I also absolutely love it when you do any minor key melodies.. they're my fav :)
Hi Jeff! Great exercises! I’ve just started back up doing your voice exercises for the last couple of weeks, and I think you are the best that I’ve worked with. I can tell a difference in my voice that it’s getting stronger. Thank you so much for your expertise and your dedication. It is a big help! God bless you.
I love this warm up process!! But I think my most favorite part was at the end the palate cleanser in the minor gorgeous :-) :-) so glad I found these have been warming up on these for the past hour now I feel nice and warm now

Hi Jeff! I am also a singer who use your videos regularily. One idéa for an excercise video is coloratura in different speeds. Some teachers teach that all voices can not do the exact same speed in colorstura but i think it might more be a matter of that we dont practise different speeds. (Like one singer can do one very fast speed and then one slower, but can not do another speed inbetween those). I myself have learnef to think less of the tones as very separated steps when practising coloratura in speeds that i am less used to in your exercises.
🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
I am dicorvering my voice I didn’t know that I had a mouse voice like that
I can do this when I hold my tongue as far out as I can. Otherwise, some days I can go through my range and sometimes I cannot because I stop it with my tongue like I'm scared to do it. I worry about the neighbors being annoyed :D
I love your videos Jeff, but I swear this warm up is so hard to use because that clapping gives me a heart attack pretty much every time I put it, I still love it but need to prepare myself mentally for it hehe, love the agility workouts!

@@JeffRolka O Jeff! Excellent news! I love this workout and I swear I kept avoiding it because of the clapping, I always thought of asking about it and never did! I still wonder, is it to warm up the fingers or something like that? there is another one, yes, at 9:44 I had them memorised by now pretty much to prepare myself for them, so knew the exact exercise where they were hehe, the other does seem to have disappeared, thank you so much!!
Only discovered your channel recently, it's wonderful! Thank you so much for your exercises, they provide such a variety of opportunities to work on the voice. The i e a o u turned out to be especially hard... which is good))
Hi Jeff started doing your exercise 1week back. Really nice. Just wanted to know if you have exercises on vocal strength, holding long notes ( breathing). I struggle with the volume of my voice, I start to wobble a lil or I feel like straining when I try to sing louder with more strenght. Any advise.thanks
@JeffRolka

Strength and vowel is a function of vowel alignment and appropriate airflow! Focus on the relationships between your vowels and the consistency of engagement (airflow) and the strength and volume will come. Best, Jeff

Hello! Great question! You might just need to practice the transition a bit. Working it slowly and gently increasing the tempo can really help. You might try: kzread.info/head/PL2mQP7sE6PHjuVYyVgdo7VMtwSQvvCHC- Jeff

Just wanted to make a comical comment as opposed to the more "serious" ones I make including the one several months ago on this particular lesson/warm up. I know you say you like to use the lava lamp to make us feel relaxed. Well relaxed I certainly AM! So much so that I have to kind of hit myself back into gear, because I feel myself almost nodding off! Don't get me wrong, I do fully concentrate - just thought this might make you laugh! But please don't throw the lava lamps away- they're great!
@JeffRolka
4 жыл бұрын
Excellent! I have been looking for another one to switch them up a bit, but it'll still be a lava lamp back there! Thanks, Diane! Jeff
Hi Jeff....What chords are you playing in the last exercise?
@JeffRolka
5 жыл бұрын
Great question! Do you know what a cadential six four chord is? It's basically when you have the fifth scale degree in the bass with the (in this case) i (minor I chord / minor one chord.) That makes the progression: In Roman numerals - i V/6 i i/6 4 v i Kind of hard to notate that without being able to use exponents for the arabic numerals! Jeff

Why the clapping? And true not easy! Should I do a warm up, thats my question when my voice does not respond for some reason? But I do it anyway because it seems the right thing to do. Thanks for your videos
@JeffRolka
4 жыл бұрын
You're welcome! The clap was probably a missed edit on my part. Sorry about that. I know that these videos say they're warm ups, but they're also technical exercises. If your voice isn't responding, you may want to record yourself doing the exercises and listen back a day later. Listen for inconsistencies in vowels, volume, or tone. See what you find, if anything, and leave another comment! Jeff
Why does the voice fades/craks at some places on the palate? I didn't have that before practicing. What may I do wrong to occure that?
