"Soporific Sorcery plays torture chamber music.
Obscure sounding, intriguingly melodic, with weird instruments and sounds from tombs and graves.
Performed by an orchestra of vampires, dark elves and gargoyles."

Agreed
Listening to this while reading Berserk was an experience.
This album is quite old and curiously very few people have already heard about it in the scene. The artist named the style played at that time "Torture Chamber Music", which corresponds rather well to the global atmosphere of the album, inspired by Egyptian mythology. The artist put all his productions in free downloads on his site, which I strongly advise you to go watching. hauntedklinik.xtreemhost.com/soporific-sorcery.htm

I'm confused: this seems to be the oldest album on the website, and yet it's "Sarcophagus Sympony II". Was there a "Sarcophagus Symphony" before it that wasn't uploaded on the site, or is it a case of Episode IV? :)
musically it's so simple, but there's something absolutely magical about this album it's unbelievably catchy in its minimalism

48:14 to 49:20 transfers more emotions in around 1min than other projects discography. Its the dream you don't want to wake up from and mourn for waking up Its finding treasure,re-kindling a long forgotten fire and discovering how long you've longed for its warmth, enjoying a moment where the time seems to stand still. Powerfull. Sad that the passage isn't that long but Mortiis would have made 3 mini-cd's out of it without any variation so...yeah. Disclaimer: i am high, not the bad kind of high tho. Respectfully, that feels a little heavy-handed. En Mork Hoisont and Anden Som Gjorde Uppror have been such constant re-listens for me. They take me to a happy place where I can fall asleep with the spirits of old and the shadows of those long forgotten to time. I love those pieces.

Outstanding
The opening sounds like "Mercyful Fate - Is that you, Melissa?"
"From these dreams you don't wake up" is the hardest fantasy line i've ever heard
Great!! Real dark pearl in dark synth music.

Why is dungeon synth such an extremely underrated genre I know it sounds like video game music or 90s movie soundtrack music but common this type of music needs more love and attraction.

No, the second this gets more attention it gets dilluted by people who try to make a quick buck and pump out meaningless albums due to growing acceptance Every Dark Dungeon Music/Dungeon Synth Album is a loveletter to a world we never got to see, a place we couldn't reach no matter how hard we tried and while not all of them are "good" they were not made with the intention to capitalize. You can't get rich doing Dark Dungeon (yet), pray that it stays that way Edit: i have to send in a PostScriptum: The amount of trash DS that got pumped out during corona is unbearable, every Hans and his cat downloads a DAW and thinks its good. DS is dying

It does not need any more attention. Every day people get into dungeon synth without being into black metal first. Should not work that way at all.

I love both SS and Foglord. It is hard to recommend something similar because I get only random associations and I'm not sure if you would get the expected high fantasy vibes, but you should check out Rog, Menestroll, Upyr, RaevJager, Fogweaver (he had a split with Foglord) and Fief if you haven't yet.
