Tim Duncan had a lowkey underrated prime. like we look at the fact he has 5 championships, but we don’t look to realize how DOMINANT the man was while he was winning those chips.

Armando De Los Santos you’re a moron also if prime Kobe and Shaq are scrubs you’re on something else he was not playing against scrubs and you’re saying hall of famers (tony and manu) they’re y’all of famers NOW back then nobody was even considering them higher than average don’t take today’s views as them and put them in the past situation manu was a rookie in the championship 03 and a third year player in 05 nobody considers a 3 year player hall of famer you’re taking it out of context

The perfect definition of two way player. Underrated defender
I miss the NBA on NBC for some reason. 🤔 But Timmy immediately made his presence known the moment he stepped foot in that Spurs jersey. Dude was crazy in 99. Averaged 21.7 PPG, 11.4 RPG, 2.4 APG, 0.9 SPG, 2.5 BPG on 49.7% shooting the regular season, averaged 23.2 PPG, 11.5 RPG, 2.8 APG, 0.8 SPG, 2.6 BPG on 51.1% shooting throughout the 1999 postseason & finally topped off a phenomenal playoff run by averaging 27.4 PPG, 14.0 RPG, 2.4 APG, 1.0 SPG, 2.2 BPG on 53.7% playing 46 minutes in the Finals to lead the Spurs to their 1st championship. And this wasn't even prime Tim Duncan. This was a 22 year old youngin in his sophomore year killing it. I don't like the Spurs but I do respect Timmy D. #GOATPF 🐐

Both Timmy and the Spurs were so underrated in that series, Timmy Finals MVP, but seldom there is people mentioning his performance in 99 finals, 27 PPG when Spurs only have 84PPG...1/3 of the whole team's points!!! And the Spurs were 15-2 in this playoffs run too (but seldom there is people considering it is a top-tier team in NBA history)

Tim played The Right way. Even other players I love like Kobe I often thought shot too much and relied on having great shooting nights. Tim made the most out of each teammate.

Melhor ala pivô da história!! Esse cara era espetacular!
Because of his quiet nature, his lack of flashy athleticism, and the market in which he played, he was underappreciated. He used the bank shot better than any big in the modern NBA.
As great as The Admiral was, from this point on, Timmy D became Mr. Spur!
Awesome player. Legend
It is shame that spurs legend David Robinson haven't won finals mvp but it was like this because robinson played against ewing as a center and big fundamental was power forward and they couldn't guard him but still greatest twin towers in history

The GOAT
Prime Duncan 🔥🔥🔥
Very historic game. The spurs became terminators and changed its team culture in which we all know today. If the Knicks have won, they would be the first 8th seed to win it all.

GOAT
Mr. Fundamentals 🏀
🐐
Top 10 player all time
I know this is Duncan's highlight, but props to the Knicks being the eighth seed at the time getting to the Finals, the first at the time
Tim Duncan 22 yrs old FMVP
No matter who won people would of gotten their money's worth as it would be the Spurs first championship while for the Knicks they would have made NBA history not only being the first 8th seed team to make the finals but also the first 8th seed team to win the finals.

Timmy D was a problem
There’s so much revisionist history that casual basketball fans who don’t like Tim Duncan try to do. They can’t understand how his game looks so simple and yet he’s considered the best PF of all time. So they make up stuff and excuses. 1. It’s the system. Not Duncan. 2. Tim was surrounded by HOF talent. 1. I think Shaq said it best once. The Spurs do have a great “system”: it’s Tim Duncan. That is the system. And history has proven Shaq right. Without Duncan, running the same Spurs “system” they’re now one of the worst teams in the league. Same system minus Duncan and they don’t even make the playoffs. So stop with all that “system” nonsense. Duncan was the “system” then. 2. Tim Duncan is probably the only HOF I can think of to win championships without another superstar in their prime. Robinson was long past his prime when TD arrived in SA. And Parker and Ginobli were no superstars. No one in the NBA wanted Parker or Ginobli. And when I say no one, I mean no one wanted them. Neither Parker nor Ginobli were considered great players. They weren’t even worth drafting. The Spurs got Parker with the last pick in the first round. They got Ginobli with a late late second round pick. Not even first round. And when those two guys were free agents later, no other teams even offered them any money. After winning championships with Duncan, still no other teams wanted them. I think only Ginobli was once offered like a 40 million contract by the Nuggets as a SG/SF. The top SG/SF guards in the league at the time like Kobe, Pierce, McGrady, Carter, etc were all making 100 mil plus. Ginobli wasn’t even considered half as good as them. But now, as a way to diminish Duncan, fans who don’t like him try to rewrite history and claim that Duncan played with the top PG and SG in the NBA. That was not true then and it’s a made up excuse now.

Duncan should've won league MVP in '99 over Karl Malone!
