This reminded of one of our neighbors in Cameroon growing up. During a pool birthday party at their home, a child (guest) died. Since that time, each time they had a party which was some years later, people didn't feel comfortable attending. We used to hang out and swim even on hot days, but since that incident, parents in the neighborhood did not want to even hear that their children went to that house. So I get Sophia's point and reason why she was scared/worried. Only thing is she should have found an alternative for him to see his child. Now when it comes to custody of the child, joint custody does not necessarily mean 50/50. It is not a "one size fits all" situation, so each case is analyzed as they're doing in Sophia's case. My sister-inlaw and her ex-husband had joint custody, but it was not 50/50; the child lived with her during school period, went to his dad during summer break, and they alternated when it came to holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas. They did this until the child was 18. In this situation, it goes without saying that the mother of the child in this case Sophia has primary custody because she can provide a stable life for the child. David on the other hand is often on tour and if he has the child, where will that be? Has his wife expressed agreement to care for this child in case he steps out of the house? What we see often is that when people feel like they don't hold much ground in court, they tend to go on social media to start to get a public defense like how Davido is doing. What I see is that Sophia wants things written down in court order rather an arrangement with Davido, because as human nature, sometimes things can go left, but with a court order in place, they will be obliged to do what is required of them regardless of how they feel about each other. When celebrities are taxed child support in the US, it is normal to see high charges because the court ensures that the child’s lifestyle is maintained and security comes into play. For example, Kanye West pays about $200,000 a month in child support to Kim Kardashian for four kids, in addition to 50% of their medical, educational, and security costs. Davido is a huge celebrity in Nigeria and on a global stage so all these have to also be considered for his children. So there is nothing wrong with the comfort, security and education she is requesting for the child.

The reason why he is paying for his other children is because the women live in countries that will enforce him to pay. America for example he will have his passport confiscated if he is in arrears of child support. it just feels like he is taking the piss with Sophia because Nigerian law does not have enough rights for single parents and enforcing child support

Yes Davido suppose to pay for d care of all his children equally. He is a wealthy man and he can afford it. I don't say Sophia would took all his money for the care of her daughter. I am just saying he need to take responsibility of the up keeping of his daughter and other children and also their mothers cos a wealthy man should be happy to see all his children and their mothers living well taking care of even if he is not there. I'm not saying he shouldn't see his child. No he should be able to have visitation with supervision if the mother of the child have security issues like Sophia. Hope the court will settle this matter properly in favor of the child benefit and interest. Cos they would have taken it to family elders both family to settle this than bringing it to social media. @@mercyeffiong6822 that itself confuses me, why is the grand father the one paying and not Davido(so called billionaire-30bg). Also if the grand father is paying, why is there a gripe about money in the court documents. At the end of the day Nigerian culture, especially Yoruba culture, it is the man’s responsibility to fully take care of his children’s upkeep. Yes modern day says it should be 50/50 (which is rubbish as the mother emotionally and physically normally does more) but a child must live to the standard of its richest parent. This means living accommodation, schooling, transportation and holidays at the level the father can afford(as he is the assumed richest parent). People must remember the ultimate goal of a parent is their child health, safety and happiness. Punishing the mother is a detriment to all three.

I’m one of the few people on God’s green earth that has very little patience for celebrity drama. I pick my struggles and even the Bbn I used to follow, I have zero intentions of continuing anymore. But then again, for one reason or the other, and as a matter of fact, these issues are shoved in my face whether or not I wanna know. And it’s at times like these that I’m glad an analyst like Glory Elijah exists in these spaces. In my eyes, this whole law suit thing began in David’s attempt to be vindictive, because why else would he go to such lengths just like that? What? He’s from a very very influential background and has almost not limits to funds and power. Now he’s married and has a so-called stable home to his vantage. So why not teach Sophia a lesson, huh? My only concern in this, is for the child. It would have been a great deal better if these two grown ass babies shoved their egos aside and sat to think for exactly what’s BEST for their child. And I’m pretty such it’s not this whole mess, but rather a consensual presence of both parents. There’s something a father is to a child, and inasmuch as single motherhood is not a crime, it’s not something you choose for a child that could’ve had a bigger option. David needs to calm down. Sophia needs to manage her expectations and apply wisdom. And the fanatics, frankly need to just sit this one out because you cannot tell a mother how to fight for her child when she’s simply spitting facts!

But if they leave the child in the hand of adult nanny then they shouldn't take any blame cos so many parents leave their children with nanny to go to work or go out dat why there daycare and nannys job. If you do not have locks and pool covers with a 3 year old child, that's negligence. It's quite unfortunate and unintentional but it does not change the facts. For me, I don't mind anyone calling me anything when it comes to protecting my children. Visits can happen at David's father's house where mature people can keep a watchful eye on her. Prevention is better than cure.

To the best of what i have seen so far…davido filled joint custody because Sophia didn’t allow him see their daughter.let not forget tiwa baby daddy (tee bliz) said they have been begging sophia for Davido to see his daughter meaning she didn’t allow him..which made him go for legal joint custody.let’s not forget that the main reason for this fight is not the joint custody.the genesis is house rent which davido finds very extreme and he only paid 5million for his daughter quota…pays her school fees till date even with all the drama going on.1million monthly allowance, 2 cars transportation.one of them is Range Rover..so what more do you want him to do?if she thinks her daughter wants more she should top it up..he has other children he needs to cater to aswell.people are speaking like he isn’t contributing or doing anything for the child. I heard someone say they saw how david was a careless parent. Wow. Just wow. So, parents who have multiple kids and have lost one of them because of an unfortunate incident are now careless because of that. I beg to differ. Glory, can Davido do all that Sophia is requesting? A big YES. Must he? No. In this life, we must learn to manage our expectations. Remember, this is Nigeria. There. are fathers who do not care about their kids and nothing has happened to them in this country. Now, I am not praising the system but let us be realistic with our system. In the interest of that little girl, imade, sophia should not expect that all her expectations would be met. Glory, david is an artist. It's the nature of his work. He cannot be as available as sophia.. cut that guy some slack, he makes efforts.
