Marcus everything except the slomo. Sony can do fullhd@960 whereas you can go up to only 720p on s9+. He did the slomo comparison on bright outdoors conditions, that's why we couldn't spot much of a difference. But in other places its quite clear sony's slomo is simply the best

XZ2's camera isn't bad and it's not really a full on flagship so that's there. The problem is that we usually see comparison of S9 with pixel 2 or maybe iPhone X, and because if that we never really realise how amazing the S9 's camera actually is. This video shows that very well, sony smartphones has good cameras and S9 is really showing us how better it is. Hopefully the XZ2 premium will have a bit more better camera. Hey Saf, it seems to me that the x2 button on S9+ doesnt really switch to the second camera but does digital zoom as well. I tried since i got S9+ from the first day. Please try it. Cover the bottom lens with your finger and you will notice that when you're pressing x2, you will still get a viewfinder. Could it be that the second lens is for bokeh only?

Did anyone notice that the s9+ blurred the background when the video was recorded from the front camera and that was just eye catching and the blur was so perfect even after running the blur was just perfect. Hatsoff to S9+.

The xz2 have x reality mode it always gives that what it is in reality in s9+ the camera is good but not the reality , most of the pictures were bright. the pics of sony xz2 was having more real colors then the s9+ which is real . If u look on this video the picture of a yellow flower and the surrondings is more realistic on xz2 then the s9+ and in other pics as well but in the zoom pics the s9+ was more clear the xz2. They both did good in the night pics but s9+ was more brighter then real but in xz2 the pics was realistic as the night pics should be . That is the reason xz2 is having x realtiy shoot .they both did great job but Wow to sony .

Jusst love Sony's science of colors, it just has more color on low light. And the skin color is just sooo accurate. I'm Filipino and I hate it when phones just keeps on making me pale white.

Sony phone looks more realistic on the video! S9 plus looked too bright. The optical stabilization works better on the s9 plus. They're both fantastic phones!

I hate this crap. We used auto mode -__- WHY? WHY NOT USE THE MODE WHERE THE CAMERA SHINES. Yeah lets use half the features a phone has because I'm too lazy. Come on man. Also, I can't wait to see sony's Dual camera in August. Should be the best lowlight camera on the market

I am a XZ1 owner. I am glad that XZ2 camera image processing has improved over XZ1. But it is still no competition for S9+. To guys out there debating whether Sony or Samsung wins, just get a DSLR camera. I too was once care a lot about phone camera, but we have to accept the fact that DSLR is way better. For phone, it depends on your preferences really. Like do you take a lot of night photos or do you like the color produced on XZ2.

Galaxy S9+ is Unstoppable !

i prefer samsung cause i wanna see myself brighter so that my family can see me through video chat rather than dark.

Let's be real this is a dump about as solid as a 2018 flagship can give the other. I mean, it looks like the s9 was given coca cola for a month and built the pop only to take it on the XZ2. These two are not even on the same league. "The xz2 is not the flagship, the xz2 premium will be!" That is about as true as "the s9 isnt the flagship, the note 9 will be" so please stop being dumbasses and tell things like they are so that Sony can come out of the hole they have been digging for years and give you something good for your money. Being fanboys hurts everyone, I wish Sony came out with the best phone of the year so that the other companies would try to out do it. Not this year.

For the front camera I prefer the XZ2, it looks more natural. The S9 pictures are too bright, like it has a white filter on it. The same goes for daylight shots with the rear camera, the Xperia looks more natural and colors seem more detailed. At night, the S9 does a better job, but I find it to make things look a bit soft. Finally for video, it depends on the resolution: at 4K I think the S9 is better (thanks to its stabilization). At 1080p, the Sony is as good and I find its sound quality better (less high pitched than the S9 audio). For the Super Slow Motion, I'd give it to the XZ2 as the quality is better (1080p and 720p available with half the "normal length" available at 1080p). Sony doesn't need to drop their sensor resolution to 12MP, maybe between 14 or 16 because they have the biggest sensor available right now on smartphones (1/2,3"). The night shots are better than before, but still behind. Using a tripod definitely helps, the phone has the ability to detect that and adjust its shutter speed. But it looks like they have decided to do it a different way with their dual sensors that they've announced at MWC. Finally I find that the colors of the S9 (in video or photo at day and night) look a bit washed out or cooler, like the back wall from the selfies or the sign at night. The XZ2 definitely does a better job at there.

Well, that's true. But i don't think Sony actually caught up with Samsung, Apple or Google in smartphone photography, it's ironic considering how Sony literally manufacturers DSLR camera's and they have huge advantage from a hardware perspective. But they just aren't catching up with these 3 in software processing which is also very important for smartphone camera. I do tech videos in a unique style. Abhishek Tripathi s9 do ok type in day light condition ..Cheak geekyranjit's comparison with pixel 2 XL.. Also in this video if u look closely sony have better daylight details and more balanced front cam IMO.. He is little baised S9 plus meant for low light and it excels in low light!

Eric Ojeda very possible, but Apple and google are well known for having the best cameras, Samsung still a year behind in terms of raw power of their camera, the only they did which was good is the variable aperture thing, which google and Apple will have by September anyway, so it will all then look to 2019, where Samsung will once again try and play catch-up

Currently, I own a Sony Xperia XZ and a Sony Xperia XZ2. 1) With my Sony Xperia XZ, I can adjust mic sensitivity as follow: (Setting/Sound /Accessory settings/Mic sensitivity/High). - But with my Sony Xperia XZ2, have not this setting: (Setting / Sound / Accessory settings / Mic sensitivity / High). 2) Test: when I recorded videos of far the surrounding environment (from over 4m), result sound of video of my Sony Xperia XZ louder than my Sony Xperia XZ2. It's not an easy win for s9 as you mentioned. May be it took away the lowlight shots but all the daylight shots except the potrait mode goes to Sony Xperia xz2. Even the selfies had a much balanced sharper image.

Where's the 4K HDR in Sony? I mean, it must be one of the highlights of the Sony XZ2, the first 4K HDR on smartphones.

Didnt even need to watch the video to see that the s9+ is the winner.

Video stable on s9 plus and brightness is also better in s9 plus but over all better picture quality in sony xperia xz2

Great video as always but I was wondering why you only do camera tests with out of the box settings. Some phones come with gimmicky beauty modes on by default while others don't. In theory it's "fair" but not necessarily accurate when the hardware is being crippled by the mode. It's like doing a display comparison with flagship devices but leaving a Samsung on it's default FHD mode (btw which requires a lot more taps and searching than turning off beauty mode).

They are already working on a new dual camera and new sensor that is very good in low light or darkness. We have to wait to see if it appears in their premium model.

What I noticed in this video is what I notice in other videos of people doing the same test is that the image stabilization is really good on the S9 but the image quality is not good at all. It does a terrible job focusing and everything is washed out. Looks worse than the Note 8 front camera. Also the video stabilization is really bad on the back camera. My Note 8 is not great either with that feature on. I have it off and rely on the OIS. Just my observations. Edit: Just wanted to say your video showed a better stabilization for the S9 plus. was there a recent software update?

for bezelless i would give it to the Vivo Apex cause that phone is a true bezelless phone. for display i would give it to the lg g7 cause it supports not only HDR 10 but also Dolby Vision. for software, as long as the phone has google play store or app store its good since its not OS nor the ui. for body Xperia XZ Prem for style (preference) for sturdiness i would give it to the XZ2 (watch jerry rig). for audio i would give it to the razer phone for mobile speaker, for headphone i would give it to a phone which has a decent sound card along with an amp. for hardware is da same for me as long as the spec is the same i see no difference for feel quality is preference, for me i particularly like the XZ Premium for quality i think it's pretty much the same for glass backs, and isn't this the same w body? for priceworth i would give it to the budget phones thanks to the rule of diminishing returns for extra i would give it to the Solarin from sirin labs

You need to upload in HDR in order for us to watch the 4K HDR. The HDR feature is really good actually. Shame you didn't upload in HDR. You should set the metering to centre for the front facing camera on XZ2. It's getting the background exposed but not your face. That's a fault on the default settings. Sony should fix up on that.

How about also including the shutter speed for the stills? Especially for low-light it's important to know more about shutter speed. The lower the shutter speed at night, the more chance you have on a not-shaky image. Phones like the S9 and iPhone X take the shutter speed stupid low (1/6 or even 1/4 second!!!), making you have to hold the phone steady for dear life at night...

Actually I just switched from Sony Z, Z1,Z3plus to Samsung S6, Nexus6p and S7 edge. Using S7 edge for nearly 2 years. Really Its great. It does not over heat, It does not drain battery fast after some Updates. It does not turn off the mobile when removing Sim slot Tray.

Irelia Darker means worse? Wtf is that logic? Hahahaha Anyways, I can see the better processing of details on the XZ2 for the front camera. The image is well-defined even if it's not as high resolution as the S9+, just like how the S9+ shows better details in low light than the XZ2 with the rear camera despite the lower resolution.

Is this a production unit? As far as I know the XZ2 is not available yet, so it isn't kind of fair comparison yet

The s9+ front camera is far better, it captures more light and also its rear camera is better too because you can clearly see that it is capturing more detail when you look at the grass on both the videos.

Galaxy S9 of course )
