i love sony , they didn't follow the actual tendency for making phones , no notch, no hole on the screen, just phones in the old way.

Well not quite the old way , all their phones are the annoying tall thin aspect ratio , i miss the old days when sony made full sized devices . I suspect it will be a slug in sales just like the others due to the lack of screen realestate , which is a shame because sony has headphone jack and sd card on its devices , but the lack of screen realestate for many will be a deal breaker imo ..

@@mikldude9376 wym? 21:9 packs more screen than the s21 20:9 or the weird out of the book 19.5:9 ratio the iphone gives you. there are reasons why ppl made a standard on aspect ratios like 4:3,16:9 and 21:9 . if you go weird aspect ratios like samsung and apple does, there will always be a black bezel on every content you watch no matter what it is .... you will never use the full screen watching any movies or videos without cropping some off . and if you dont like that then wait for the mark 4 or 5 something, i once saw rumors that sony is goona switch to 4k DCI which iMax cinema displays use at a ratio of 1.90:1(inbetween 16:9 and 21:9) at 4096 x 2160

As he's reviewing this phone, I was thinking this was the "just right" phone for me at this size with all the "High-end" specs, but I think it's a huge miss in a $1k phone to not include wireless charging. @ this price, I expect wireless as a feature more than keeping the dedicated headphone jack or expandable memory. My last three phones have had wireless a much lower cost.

I have a Sony Xperia X that is still working after 5 years. I dropped it like a 1000 times, not a single dent or scratch, granted I use a hard silicon case + screen protector but still. This was a budget phone in their line-up, so it does speak volumes tbh. I'm looking to replace it though, the camera is not great and in the summer it did started to have some trouble on very hot days, but yeah it's 5 years old and I bought it for 230 euro, something like that, so what can I say.

Why does nobody talk about call quality or antenna reception/ connectivity/ performance in mobile phone reviews, any more? I'd like to know whether a Samsung, HTC or Sony give you the most 'bars' and which is the best at staying connected to a network when you are in an area with poor signal strength. Time was: these things were talked about because there were, or could be, huge and significant differences in these qualities, between different companies phones. And I am certain that there still will be. Much easier just to read from a spec sheet, though, I suppose.

@@CrazyStranger11 what I understand it works like this. If you activate H.S and connecting the charging cable in, it won't charge the battery. The phone would therefore run directly from the Jack and not the battery. That means the battery won't charge and get warm. It's a similar feature that laptops used for years. It also means no throttle.

@@Dragontrumpetare The phone will not get as warm, but it will still throttle. As Will mentioned in the video, passive cooling is not great on this phone. Even if the battery is not warming it up, the processor alone will get too hot when playing games or doing any processor intensive task (maybe even using the camera), and its speed will be reduced automatically ("throttling"). Mind you, given the speed of the Snapdragon 888, it's probably not a big issue, and I'm actually considering purchasing this phone. I have been able to test the Realme GT, which has the 888, and even when it's throttling the performance is still very good.

There's a reason you mention the FE - it is their only phone left without most of their terrible compromises of late. FE might only be $80 cheaper and by the time you pay all your interest or however else if you're financing, possibly more. I'm reconsidering buying the Xperia 5 II once I get the refund because its Soc SD865 has better thermals than SD888... But before my purchase I have a question... Does your Xperia 5 mark II does heat up while doing simple apps like facebook, IG, Chrome? Thanks in advance...

It can be enabled in developer option. I have a 5ii and I won't let it run at 120Hz in games due to how impractical that is. Yes visual is much more responsive but the phone would heat up too much on graphic intensive games. The game enhancer would even let you cap the framerate to 40Hz for any application (although the screen still refresh at 60Hz) to reduce heat and improve battery life.

What do you mean by overpricing? Sony has the same price as similarly spec'd phones. 256 GB iPhone, S21 Ultra, & X1 III, all same price, while including features and accessories the other two have gotten rid of- for example. They don't play the same shell games to make people think they're getting a discount, as the competition and the price goes down slower. Oh right, when iPhones hold their value better, people say they're worth it.

At least iPhone has 5 years of support and devs go all out on their apps, so $1200 is ridiculous. Really to me, any 2-3 year built in obsolescence device over $600 is too expensive. So I do think it is too expensive, but the key here, is I think they all are.
