Definitely loving the new tele cam, but Sony needs to give a larger sensor to it. And while we're at it, the ultrawide can make do with a bigger sensor as well. I don't even mind if Sony port over the Xperia 10 v/vi's 48MP 1/2" sensor and reworked it as a 16mm lens.

Sony likely will stick to this sensor size. IF they want to make a bigger sensor they got to sacrifice thickness, which they likely won't, unless they changed their mind.

You pay 1400 dollars for a weak tele, two years old sensors, expect the main, because of the colour style? That's weird:), for this price you should get a better phone, especially when you look to other periscope lenses working with Sony sensors. The optical zoom from a oppo or vivo is way better as the Xperia. The only point Sony wins is about their focus and read out speed in burst mode, no other can do this:)

@@michaelhuber2013 Hey man things are a lot more enjoyable without someone in your ear telling you it’s not worth the price all the time. For some reason in phone comparisons ppl have a hard on for 1000% image crop comparisons when thats the complete opposite of what photography is supposed to be. I can get good images without the overbaked hdr processing of other phones, with nice and deep shadow renditions and have a great in camera preset to work with alongside great looking colours. I really don’t care about price and hardware right now because for all I’m concerned I’m getting my money’s worth, and have what I paid for. For reference I also have a Xiaomi 14 Ultra. 90% of the time I only shoot in Pro Mode + JPG to avoid a lot of the AI artifacting thats all over smartphone images now. I am still using my Xperia more than I am the 14 Ultra even though the technical quality is a lot better on the Xiaomi. Sometimes, a phone is just fun to use, and its limitations don’t necessarily break the experience. For me, the 1 VI is riding that fine line.

@@ThroughJermainesLens that wasn't meant in a bad way:), but the reality bout Sony phones is that they have a problem with overexposure. If I walk through a forest like you I can get perfect shots if I had the time for the right settings. But in real life, especially you have kids, there is no time for settings otherwise the moment is gone. Try to take pictures in sunlight or from moving objects right out of your pocket, you will see what I mean. A photo from a non moving object like a building or an flower you can take with every flagship and you will get great results but I think that a good photo lives from the moment, the moods and the atmosphere too. Like you create your own atmosphere with a bit of underexposure. And this things are often short and you have to take the picture quickly without time for any setting. Like today, I saw a black bee on a yellow flower, great contrast, but directly sunlight. Out of the pocket in auto mode with little time it's difficult to get a really good picture with this light conditions. And I think the pro features and the auto mode would work better with an variable aperture and an integrated nd filter like the rx100 have:) Nice greetings Mike

I dont have the vivo x100 ultra but, for what Ive seen so far, its better at the telephoto lens, main sensor also have more details, since its a 1 inch sensor and the quality is awesome, no question, however, 1 VI color science is unparallel, its just... so good, the focus its also great and you can have Google Services native with Android Auto and Wallet out of the box. Chinise phones sadly arent as trusty as the other ones in these terms and lack of those things, I would say makes the other android devices takes the upper hand overall, but if you only focus on the camera specs, the Vivo (althought saturates the images too much to my taste) its the better phone

It's still ridiculous oversized but getting rid of the 21:9 aspect ratio is a good move. A better one would have been to accept the fact these aspect ratios make no sense and go back to 16:9 which remains the best aspect ratio for a MOBILE phone.

Xperia will always be that jack of all trades master of none kind of smartphone. Good at most things but never the best in all. I'll still miss the 4K screen but we do need a bigger sensor on the telephoto since although the variable tech is great, it's still crippled by the small sensors.
