    Dear Amy, thank you for your time, to talk about this lens. For me in particular , unless is a portrait photo, i think the background should not be too defocus, in the samples you show, the f4 looks more integrated…. 👌

    Wow, excellent job with the the dolly zoom effect in the beginning ;) I think it's cool also! You raise a ton of good points and your samples illustrated everything to back it up. Fantastic review Amy! It came up in my feed and you grabbed my attention at the start for sure. All the best, Jay

    Great piece.. Have recently bought this lens and plenty of my friends sniffed cos its only F4!! Ive not had any issues re low light as I own a Fx9/6 and their low light performance as you've already mentioned are great and absolutely love this lens. lightweight, nice internal zoom and range. just love it!!

    2:30 Yes you can get a blurry background with F4 too, but the subject has to be really close and/or the background really far away (just like in your examples there). Shoot inside and it'll be a lot trickier.

    I'm still learning but what I have learned is I hate carrying heavy camera gear and it was the 20mm1.8 that made me realize that. The size and weight of this 16-35 with the extras looks like a winner. Might have to get it.

    Great video and I really like the lens. But just wanted to comment that zooming in doesn't have a effect on depth of field. "Compression" is caused by changing the distance to the subject, so if you are using a 25mm at 1 meter and zoom in post to a 50mm equivalent it would be the same result as changing the lens at the same position. This get confused because usually if you change lens or zoom in the person would go further to maintain a similar shot and thus changing the compression. As a matter of fact the zolly you demonstrated in the beginning of the video only works because your changing the distance, and the zoom only mantains the frame. Changing focal length also changes the dof because of the magnification on the lens.

  • @jamesandcamera
    @jamesandcamera Жыл бұрын

    I don't mind f4 for a standard zoom, but almost every time I am using a wider focal length I tend to want f1.4-2.8 as I tend to be doing head to toe shots and its a nicer bit of separation. I can agree though that I dont "need" f2.8, as f4 would do the job functionally every time. But if I had my choice I would bring a fast wide every time anyway for the extra 10-20% subject separation on wide shots. Great video and I know the message you were going for!

    The PZ 16-35 is just a fun little lens to play with. Yeah, it’s F4, but a recent trip to Disneyland did amazing for daylight / early evening stuff. As it got darker I swapped out to my love…24mm and all problems were solved. Seriously guys and gals. Check this lens out. 🤙

    I'm interested in this, mainly for low light indoor but the price is a little high, I get some good use from my F4 16-70 ZA, I find lower aperture doesn't give my the sharpness and depth I need. 16mm is wide enough to cover small rooms.

    Take 2 lenses for comparison: Sony FE 24-70 GM 2.8 and Sony FE 24-105 G 4. We set the first one to 75 mm with 2.8, and the second at 105 mm with 4.0. You will see similar bokeh and depth....

    Clear image zoom is a type of digital crop with some Sony processing wizardry. There is zero compression with clear image zoom. Compression is only achieved when you zoom with the lens ( optically ) Great review though, we appreciate it Thank you
