I've owned a zx2 since 2015. I'm concerned about a few details. Buttons, fast forward, volume up and power on. I feel they are not smooth enough. Also I'm concerned about the battery life and overall the entire unit durability. What can I do?

Sorry to hear. Honestly, not much. As there are no aftermarket or available parts for DIY fixes, a direct Sony repair or an authorized repair center would be your only bet.

My father passed down his Onyko Stereo system as it was just collecting dust. He got it when I was a kid in the 90s. Can I hook this NW-ZX2 to tuner/receiver? I’m totally foreign this stereo system of my father’s.

Good question. Depending what genre you like, there a few websites. Some sites offer some album in their foreign sites but not in the US counterparts. Like HDTRACKS has albums in their UK website that are not offered on their US site. Qobuz is another site that has exclusive HiRes albums. Other sites like prestomusic.com offer quality classical tracks. ProStudioMasters, Blue Coast Records, NativeDSD.com are other sources as well. Also, if you are able to buy SACD discs (expensive depending on album) and have a compatible player that is able to be accessed via a network, you could also rip you rown DSD files from your own SACDs.

Finally, I get the tracks as best quality as I can get them, preferably in DSD, but some times you have no choice in the matter and my end up with something as low as 24bit at a 48kHz (or even 44.1) sample rate in FLAC.

How does this ZX2's sound compared to newer model ZX300? According to one Sony sales manager (Japanese guy, can't remember his name) during IFA2017 when ZX300 was launched, it's better than ZX2..

Great question. I have yet to get my hands on this model but I can tell you that it has the potential of sounding better with it's balanced output and higher DSD sample rate support (DSD4).

what is cpu and ram?

Have you tried the 512GB microsd? It works?

Sorry for the super late reply. No, never did try it.

Sony never put a cap on it ,256 or400gb was not available when it was released only 128 gb. It has been tested with 400gb now and works fine.

Interesting. The current spec sheet says "...you can easily expand memory capacity further using the included microSD slot (up to 256 GB)." If in fact there is no cap, they did not make that clear.

Still going strong. Battery dies after over 1 month of not using but definitely holds a charge for regular use when you revive it with a good charge. Haven't kept up with recent models though. Wish I had more free time to enjoy some good HiRes tunes on this.

Is this worth getting for 150usd used In 2021?

It is not worth a penny. Absolute device with Android 4.4.
