Not an Mqa fan. However I did switch from KZread Music recently to Amazon HD to take advantage of my new gear. I'm a prime subscriber so I get a discount. It was cheaper then any HD service and offers Ultra HD, and Dolby atmos. I don't like the 360 audio but it has that for $8.99 a month. That made the best sense to me. Also Faith no more is awesome! 🤘

Im sure the app can be downloaded but not sure how the bitrates hold up to Tital. I also have Amazon music off and on but dont listen too music. Perhaps I need to. Indeed about Faith no More - Mr Bungle too.

Hi, how the memory management works with Tidal? I have read in another review that the NW-A306 can't download music to the sd card so if this is true than the available memory on the unit is really a limitation.

I’ve heard that too. I think it’s so strange. For context I have A105 with Spotify on it and Spotify has an option to save files to SD card. But I’m not sure if Qobuz or Tidal allows for that? If not I think Sony must push and update allowing us to choose where the files are stored. Can someone help here?

Great video. I have problems playing Tidal downloaded songs on my Walkman NW-A396. When downloading to a super fast Micro SD card it sometimes takes up to 5 minutes to start playing a playlist with Tidal. I have no such problems with any of my other players with downloaded music like Apple, KZread, or Spotify. This happens only with Tidal on the Walkman and only for downloaded music. Have you come across this issue?

NO issue like that here. How does it play without a paylist? Does the playlist go back and from from onboard memory to micro sd card ?

Hey, I don’t have Apple Music and Tidal, don’t like them at all and can’t even use Tidal because it’s not in my country yet. I want the highest music quality, do I have to download songs from my laptop and then transfer to the Walkman? What will happen if I use Spotify because it only has 320 kpbs has the highest quality and I want the MHz one. Please help!

Sonys 1000xm5 earbuds (on all devices I own) seems to want to silence music for "talk to mute" more than I would like. I still LOOOOVE these earbuds but that seems to be something they will tweak in future updates.

I am a subscriber and would like to ask for your help on how can I play downloaded tidal music stored in the app of my Sony a306 using the built in walkman player so I can see the cassette UI many thanks.

I've worked on some work arounds on this but so far have not found a way to get the tape screen saver to work on streamed music (only music files you have). Now one idea I havent tested is taking a tidal streamed song and use an autio converter or upscaler to save the file as a diffrent file type. I think that would work but its allot of effort, may be better to just spend the 99 - 1.9 cents per song to buy them. or get a copy from a friend, or torrort or something. Sorry I don't have better news on this one. I wish sony would just do an update to make it work on all music files etc. It has more to do with the tidel app than the sony app. Its like playing in a diffrent head unit.

Its an adriod device with the google play store so you can download like normal. It comes with you tube app installed. Ive never tested you tube but dont see why not. I dont think this would be the best you tube player despite how I do love this device for music.

What’s been like in your experience with music apps and battery life? About a week ago I got the ZX707 from Japan and the sound is amazing. The one thing that kinda sucks is the battery life. It has less battery life than your A306 but it’s still pretty bad and idk if it’s just my unit or what. Sony advertises the ZX707 as having 20+ hours, but using Qobuz with downloaded playlists (so I’m not streaming), turning off WiFi, turning off Bluetooth, closing all unnecessary apps. I only get about 8-10 hours playing a mix of CD-quality and 24-bit high res. I know Sony says battery life is supposed to be just north of 20hrs but maybe it’s only through their own default player? Are you noticing major changes in battery life using 3rd party apps?

3rd paty apps will decrease the battery but I've yet to run into a situation where im worried about it hitting zero (no power)

Its VERY good. I dont have a A105 to compare it to but I dont run out of power. Of course streaming via wifi and blutooth headphones can wear down the battery more. I may make a time lapse video on this later

I havent tested but Iwould assume its like any other music service that as a nonmember your rights to play the music expire in time - possiblenotday and date but at some point. Its a service after all. I will test this in the future.

If you stay connected to the internet it will revoke your access the day your subscription expires and to keep you from just listening to music offline you have to connect to the internet at least once every thirty days for them to verify your license if you don’t they revoke your access

You can download apps from the goodgle play store, apps like itunes. I have a video on playing subscription music offline later this week

Mp3 is sometimes used as a generic term for "music file", kind of like of some people say give me a coke instead of give me a cola or soda. I try to avoid saying MP3 although some 320 mp3s can sould ok but not really HD

32gb is really not enough space for high quality music especially in 2023

@@az958 It all depends on the file size. A flac file could be 10MB or 180MB - 1000 MB = 1 GB so atleast 160 songs but in most cases 250+ - 500+
