I would love to see the guy challenge Sony with the take down of this video. There are tons of videos of previous Sony dev kits and it's complete BS that the original was taken down. Even Linus tech tips got away with the Sony PS3 dev kit.

Literally looks like those PS6 leaks in 2014.

Crazy thing is, I like this design better than the retail release design. Also the controller had a screen on it, makes me believe the ps portal was suppose to be actual controller of the retail release

Saying a company is going to hate you for showing of one of their secrets is like saying the sun will rise tomorrow. Yeah, you technically predicted the future, but a four year old could make the same prediction.

0 to 7 is the controller input ports used. From the PS3, the consoles has supported up to 8 individual controllers connected at the same time.

Anyone else thinks this looks good? I wouldn’t be mad if it was the actual console

I remember when Tito uploaded this video, Sony went batcrap crazy and sicked their lawyers on him. The video was gone in a couple hours.

I remember when everyone thought this was what the ps5 was gonna look like. How wrong we were.

The fact that this dev kit is even real and the whole fact that the images we seen of this device was all speculation at the time just baffles my mind 😮

I have a good feeling once a jailbreak is out you can probably bypass the activation and use the console fully I do remeber with one patcher made for the ps4 you could put a fake license into it that would say it expired after 500 days but never does

I use to think that Dev Kits were the console hardware before the prototypes were made. Now I realize what they really are. They're literally used to make games FOR their retail version of their OWN hardware!! (well usually their own hardware)

its mostly just more ram, so it easier for devs to take their pc versions of the games, then work them down to be player on the retail specs of the hardware. and they have tools like debuggers etc which help them along this process of making and or porting an game to the console. I think with devkits its roughly like double the amount of ram of the retail. with testkits, they have the same amount of ram and are pretty close to spec to what retails are, the only main difference with testkit verse an retail, is the testkits are able to run unsigned code which allows the devs to run their code on them, and use the same tools like they use on devkits. I've known of some small indie studios, who wont even order the devkits because of the price, but only order an testkit or two and use those to develop their game out on.

@@randallperkinsky Oh wow, that's very interesting! I have a better image of developers behind the scenes. Thank you for this information, I mean RAM is definitely a difference in the dev kits but I've also heard the CPU/GPU chips are also beefed up a little with more cores, threads ect, but that may just be a rumor, Sony might've not have done that, just added ram but I have known about how Microsoft has done that in the past with their dev kits, at least their One X/Series X dev kits they have. Plus additional SSD storage for the game projects devs are working on too aswell. About indie developers on dev kit prices, they're definitely pretty expensive. However, the hardware between Xbox and PlayStation may be similar, but Sony and Microsoft definitely do similar things much differently. There was a time Microsoft actually offered Indie developers to show Microsoft officials what game they're working on in a poll, and show them. If their game is legible for use of dev kit equipment, developers have actually gotten Series X/S Dev kits sent to them for free, one or two maybe, the rest they would have to buy. I didn't understand why Microsoft was doing that but it sounded interesting at the time, they were probably still making money off of their Dev kits from larger Studio companies ordering them though, so it was a unique way to get dev kits of their console hardware to indie developers easier who may struggle u more difficultly to get them, so that was cool to hear. I'm not sure if Sony does the same, I'm also not sure if Microsoft is still doing that, I just know they did.

We can see top, front, back, side, and bottome pretty clearly and at one point has a cd next to it which is standard size so I think it'd be possible to find all the dimensions with some work

I have one with an optical drive. Got it for £750.

I think the designs are very cool, better than the PS5 or PS4, it's something new and looks very elegant, very strong, an eye-catcher, a matter of taste and certainly doesn't look boring, visitors are probably wondering what it is, like my gaming computer, they often ask what is that, I say it's my gaming computer 🤣😁

Problem is cost at scale, making a few hundred units is probably easier and cheaper than trying to mass produce the case mouldings.

Hope ps5 pro looks like this in the future
