Sony GM 35mm f1.4 - My new favourite 35mm

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Photos edited with my Earthy Lightroom Preset Pack of 10 presets: www.digitalfilmactions.com/li...
Hey everyone!! First up I want to say a big thank you to Sony Australia for getting this 35mm in my hands early so I can have this video up for you guys. Today we're doing a first look of this GM 35mm f1.4 from Sony, testing out the autofocus, Dan and I do a little photoshoot of each other, we take a look at 100% view unedited sample photos, look for lens flares, test out the bokeh, chromatic aberration and a little comparison with the Zeiss 35mm f1.4 as well!
Let me know what you think of this lens and the photos down in the comments. I'm SO excited to use it again this week at a portrait photoshoot to test it out some more - video coming soon!

    I’m so much more impressed by Sony glass than anything Canon has to offer. Not to mention that Canon’s high end glass is just ridiculously overpriced. Looks like I’m selling my R6 when the A7IV comes out! Amazing stuff, Julia! As usual!

If I don’t mind the focus breathing issue on GM, just considering the video image quality. Does these 2 lenses make any noticeable differences? • @gavinfulton1361
    @gavinfulton13613 жыл бұрын

    The temptation is real to add this to my bag even though I already have the 24 GM. My only gripe with 24mm in general is closeup warp in portraits and “stretchiness” along the edges (I center most of my portraits, esp at 1.4, to avoid this) but I also find myself using the Super35 mode sometimes to pseudo-emulate a 35mm look and to avoid the edges of the lens to ensure I don’t get that warping. I’m curious if there are any of those concerns with this lens. Also, Julia, could totally how legitimately stoked you were to be using this lens. It made me happy seeing that you were happy!

    Hi Julia, can you recomend a lens for operation room shoots. in operation rooms there is low light, plus operation lights are so bright that makes difficult. hope one day you took these portraits for plastic surgery patients at operating rooms.

    Most important question for me Is it worth to change from 35mm 1,4 Zeiss to GM?

    How does the GM 35mm hold up to the sony 35mm f1.8... and also the samyang 35mm f1.8? 🤔

    Silly question but in the start where you had the auto and eye focus on you and you were moving around, was that achieved by keeping the button pressed half way the whole time?

    Really cool Lens. I own a very good copy of the zeiss 1.4 and always LOVED its rendering - a nice blend of character and sharp/clean images. If buying today, i would go for the gmaster, but i wonder how the bokeh falloff and overall rendering really compares? I.care much more about pleasing rendering then sharpness, so im interested to see some comparison model shoots...

    Yeah I have a good copy of the Zeiss as well and also love it, but I will be replacing it with this GM as I feel like it's more reliable/faster/better AF accuracy for the client work I do outside of youtube :) I just uploaded a creative portrait photoshoot with the GM where you can see some more examples of the overall look - I personally love it. I will work on a comparison video soon too.

    @@juliatrotti very cool, and thanks for the reply. Will try to watch your comparison videos. Like i said, rendering is my first priority so would really be interested to see them go head to head in a portrait scenario to Really get a feel for their falloff and overall rendering. Ive been using the zeiss with the a7s3 and couldnt even imagin that af could be even better? But cool to hear! You have such a lovely style of video and such a nice character if i may say so. Keep up these vids!

    Ahhh Julia! I knew I could count on you ! LOL do you think this lens would be good on the Sony A5100? I have a 90D canon but I used to use the Sony for vlogs. I used the standard lens that came with it and it was super crisp. But now that I’m getting more cinematic I want a better lens. I rented the canon 35mm for a trip which I LOVED so much (took your advance).
