Seems there is an automatic crop on 2x desquezze ?? Great ! That is what I was waiting for !! Now if they can add 1,5x and 1,8x that would be awesome. Maybe next year for 5.0...

Absolutely, just like in the FX3, with 2x de-squeeze it automatically croppes right in to arround 2,35:1 - I'm a big fan of that as well.

@@deadendboredom thats perfect. Well almost... sdi missing, and 1,5 1,8x missing. Also would be nice to have that on the a7s3, since it is my Bcam, but probably wont happen...

RED cameras also add a bunch of random characters at the end of the clip name. I’ve always assumed it’s to avoid identical clip name errors in editing software. Honestly, I’m just happy they’ve gone to a conventional cinema style naming convention. How it was before was always super frustrating during media swaps.

I hadn't come across any conventions for file names with Sony so far, thanks for pointing out RED! They have an official document, and as you mentioned, it's simply two random numbers to prevent duplicate naming. It doesn't completely make sense to me either, as one would need to record 999 clips before it starts over at 1, and even then, you could jump to 2 on the reel (yes, that might be inconvenient if using reel numbers for different cameras for some reason, etc.), or integrate the time like other manufacturers do. Nevertheless, I'm also happy that we finally have something better than before.

@@deadendboredom I just installed the update, and I’m disappointed to learn that you still have to manually advance the reel number with every format. Sony was so close to getting it right!

@@MrAndrewClaycomb Close but still no cigar, seems like that's a recurring theme :D I heard that the "reel" number increases automatically when you have continuous recording enabled, and it seamlessly switches from a full card to the second empty card for recording... But I lacked the motivation to give it a shot, especially since I wouldn't use it that way anyway.

Hello! Does anyone know what the camera positions C/L/R stand for? Thank you!

If anyone has more information, please feel free to share. The only thing I could find so far is in documents from RED, where the use of L and R is mainly associated with the right eye and left eye, primarily in the context of 3D production. C would then typically refer to normal 2D production. However, it can also be used as an additional labeling to more precisely capture camera perspectives, namely Center, Left, and Right.

Room for improvement 🥴 but for me actually not worth to upload my FX6 🎥
