    I've been debating on switching to the Sony Ecosystem but not sure yet. How has the change been from Canon? Do you regret it at all?

  • @CodyScott

    It is a tough choice to make. However, I sold my canon gear which paid for my Sony upgrade. I do not regret it one bit. I get better quality, more dynamic range, they update their firmware faster with better features, the are lighter, small, powerful and the industry is moving to sony. More Canon users are switching. I don’t regret it. Best choice I’ve ever made for a camera system. It’s my personal camera a my wedding camera. Large productions we use RED etc. It’s amazing though. I’d do it before they raise the prices.

    Love this video already I paused in at 14 seconds and I noticed a lot of focus breathing, what lens are you using and are you aware of 3.0 firmwares breathing compensation it has a slight crop but it works really good. Im going to watch the rest of the video and pray I don't eat my own words! Im also a filmmaker and a FX3 owner! LOVE IT

    Thank you so much for taking the time to share. I hope all is well. I am exploring the focus sensitivity settings right now to see how far I can push them to be responsive or non-responsive. In this video, I turned up the responsiveness all the way . I don’t recommend it at all because it causes a ton of focus breathing. Thank you for sharing !

    I've been using BMPCC cameras for the past four years and I'm just so comfortable with the workflow and can work ridiculously efficiently with them. I've been debating moving to the FX3 for a long time now and keep putting it off, mainly for three reasons: lack of certain features that I completely rely on such as shutter angle and false colour, the super intuitive and simple menu on the BMPCC Vs the ridiculously convoluted Sony menus and then obviously the price of a fully functioning FX3 shooting setup. Then with the FX3 having been on the market for a few years now, there's also part of me that can't help wondering if something more suitable will be released in the near future that I should've just waited for....

  • @CodyScott

    @CodyScott

    Thanks for sharing. I love the BMPCC ecosystem. The features you love are what make the camera preferably over the FX3. I would suggest waiting. The FX3 Mark ii is on the near horizon and it comes with global shutter. That would be worth an upgrade.

    @@CodyScott thanks for the reply. Not sure if you know something I don't but as far as I can tell, there is still nothing concrete out there about a Mk II other than rumours. But, if it is announced in the next few months and Sony have addressed some of the complaints about the MkI, (false colour/shutter angle etc), I will almost definitely get my name on the waiting list!

    Thank you for sharing. Man, the atomos is a combo I’m so anxious to try. I don’t want to buy one because most of my productions I use a RED. However, I’m anxious to get my hands on the extra color depth that comes with the external hdmi out.

    Hey there, I hope all is well and that your day is full of joy. I would suggest getting a variable lens. Prime lenses are sharper, however, if ALL you are doing is Vlogging, then you will need a zoom. To help with your style. I personally only use a 20mm for vlogging and this works well. Also saves you the hassle of picking a focal length.

    Ah! The perfect videographer to ask… I’ll be shooting some theater scenes in NYC and I’m trying to see IF I can get by with a Sony FX3 given that the lighting can be highly controlled… It’s not only is it about the higher rental cost of the the FX6 or Komodo ecosystem… but the size of the files written out demanding (10?) more NAS storage for editing… The deciding factor may just be that the final product is only intended for smart phones or tablet… maybe a laptop? (There’s also some question about shooting under the theaters tungsten lights or (and?) my Aputure LEDS…)

    as the focus switches slightly, it keeps "zooming in and out" focus breathing is very distracting here, is there focus breathing compensation option? By the way i'm finally switching from my R6 + R to the FX3, I just ordered it with a 35mm f1.8, then i will complete my lens trio that I had with my R6. So it will be the lens that u're using here (20mm 1.8) and also the 85mm 1.8

    Hey there, thank you so much. You can notice the focus breathing alot in this video yes, as I mentioned in several comments below, I was testing out auto focus settings when the settings are set to "responsive" and "fast." I do not suggest doing this. Bad results. This video is the example. I reset the auto focus to factory settings and this is the most responsive and natural. All other projects that I actually use auto focus on, it is amazing. I hope this helps brother!!

    angelfish better release some 500gb cards... it's not the $500, it's the $1500 it would cost to get 3, to make sense w my workflow. at the v least 2, ofc, you're not gonna shoot anything meaningful w the FX3 w/out backing up to a 2nd card. i record to my ninja and still record to both SDs, might as well err on the side of caution imo
