I'd suggest to Sony to create an actual monitor - something like the Atomos Shinobi - and make it integrate seamlessly with their cameras, i.e. allowing camera control through the monitor. It will fly off the shelves!

Or maybe just create an API so it could be integrated into(any monitor)like the Ninja V or Shinobi lineup through HDMI. The DJI transmission system kinda reverse engineered it and you can do it with their monitor wirelessly, but its really expensive. Even a collab/partnership with Atomos and SmallHD would be awesome.

Yeah, I’ve always found it funny that Sony never really got into the on camera monitor market, considering the fact their monitors are the standard when it comes to post production. I also believe their monitors would fly off the shelves. Small HD Needs more competition, not really a fan of the Atomos stuff anymore.

Just buy an Atomos unless you like buying tech that is crippled unless you pay a yearly fee.

Main issue with all these wireless apps is they have massive issues connecting and delays, and why I don’t use it. Glad to hear you can do it with a wired cable.

The menu is an easy firmware update. They clear;y haven’t forgotten. They just don’t care😂😂

Monitor + is still the winner. Clean layout and focus option without having to change menus...

HI I currently shoot with an older Xt3 and im looking to upgrade. Im trying to decide between 2 full frame cameras. The new Lumix s5iix or the older Sony A7siii. My use case is video only and im currently focused on realestate videos and some weddings, client work ect. My main concern is for filming real estate in 4k60. What would look better a7siii 4k60 or the lumix s5ii 4k60 cropped? Most high end videographers in the real estate industry use a7siii. Taking everything into account, noise, low light, Dynamic range, image quality ect which is better. My goal to get the best quality 4k 60 video. Thank you

How to playback in monitor & control app

Once again fx9 is left out, I used Fx9 at work and it makes no sense that we would have to buy a $3000 attachment on the back of the camera to get raw output but the fx6, fx3, fx30 a7siii can all do raw output from the start. Spend $10,000 on a camera and have less features than cameras much less.

If I could connect all my cameras at once during a wedding ceremony and just tap to focus from this app with all my Sonys that would be great. The Creators app, image edge, this new app- they do need to streamline these apps and just kill what isn’t being updated. So confusing

I couldn't get it to connect to my Sony a7SIII camera with latest firmware v2.11 via the Bluetooth pairing (Wi-Fi) connection method. Could anyone else connect with their a7SIII? Thanks.

Tried it as well and I get "failed to connect" on WiFi. Bluetooth connect isn't compatible. FW version 2.11. Monitor+ works fine. Come on Sony! Your software is just awful.

So they have histogram and false color NOT on the actual cinema camera FX6? What the heck?

The Sony rep better come prepared to answer Nino's questions the next time.

Just tried it with FX6 s…can’t use it to focus (image on screen is very soft), no peaking, no waveform, no zebras nor histogram. It’s good for setting custom buttons and starting stopping recording. Wireless is slow. Connecting to multiple cameras is only possible when wired, but only on FX6. @Sony make a real monitor with full control and SDI connections… we’d definitely buy it!

As someone who came over to Sony from the s5i for better autofocus I can honestly say that Sony doesnt give a shite about their clients. Im glad I held onto my s5 with its glass because I will heading back to Panasonic who has far superior colour and cameras and actually care about thier client base.

I don't understand Sony's logic. FX9 is very expensive but it's not getting any support. Some older cameras won't get support, which is understandable, but then, there is so many features that they could have got via updates, but they didn't. It really sux.

Highly agreed! It’s still a current camera for them, their large sensor broadcast flagship till the Burano, but it feels ignored for multiple years now.

It's not working

Sony does such a brutal job with these apps. I can't even see zebras on this thing. 3rd party apps can maintain a reliable wireless connection with Sony cameras, and somehow Sony themselves continue to be incapable. I can connect with my FX30 with an intermittent connection (so basically useless), and of course only FX series cameras work. Back to my third party app I go!

Terrible design of the app. Even on big phones like Galaxy S23 Ultra ist the live picture not significantly larger than on the camera screen. Monitor+ is much better.
