This is the very reason the hx300 will appeal to almost any mega zoom fan even if they own a very capable model from the current or past generations. The 50X Zeiss lens is fantastic!

I love this camera.

I have the 100V and loved everything about it. I only use it for movies and it blows my minidv away. The 1080 at 60fps video is beautiful. I can't wait to go from 30x to 50x with the new 300. Instead of only being able to shoot a great horned owl I filmed last week from head to toes, I might be able to get just his face.

When I have the chance, I will.

It does have internal memory. Ill get back to you with exact capacity. I think I was able to take around 8 shots.

To me it's a big plus for the Sony to have a filter ring as I almost always have a PL (polarizer) filter attached when outdoors.

Thus far I would have to say that you should only upgrade if you must have the 50X. Otherwise, you may be better off enjoying your hx200v for another year until the hx400 arrives!

Yes please compare this with the Canon sx50 HS soon!

This camera should not be compared to the NEX-7 or 7N, The NEX line will give you far superior image quality (interchangeable lens flexibility) but you wont be able to get a 50X lens without spending a fortune and adding a lot of weight. This would compliment a NEX-7, not replace it, unless you don't require the IQ difference. Thanks for watching!

If you want automatic capabilities the Sony DSC-HX300. But, if you know how to actually use a camera and want to explore manual capabilities, get the Sony Alpha SLT-a58

This camera has comparable specs to the NEX 7 yet for half the price. But I'm still inclined to wait for the 7N as my next camera purchase, you agree?
