Thank you so much!! The screws were uncooperative, so I just unplugged the camera and reached in there and pulled up a little on those rollers. Fixed! So helpful!!

Hello @Alexander0623, I have a CCD-TVR57, I just purchased a new 8m tape for the camcorder, and when I put the tape in the the door will close for like 10 seconds and pop back open. The tape door will rise and open just fine without the tape inside, but the second a put in a new tape it's like it won't accept it.

Hi, this seems to be a dew sensor issue, it sounds like the camcorder is refusing to accept the tape because it detects moisture. This problem can occur for multiple reasons, although the most common issue is simply loose ribbon cables which will require the camcorder to be disassembled.

@@AlexanderR0623 I fixed it!!!, I had to wipe the mildew sensor with alcohol swap/qtip and left it out in the sun for a bit, remove the CMOS sensor battery and battery for the camera, and now it's accepting the tape. 😎😎

yo i'm not sure what's going on with my camera it's a sony hi8 trv-118 camcorder and it recently has had an issue where the screen stays blue during playback and only when i pause or rewind the video i can see a distorted image of the video

Hi, I personally haven't had this issue with my camcorder though I do know a youtuber who managed to fix a similar problem to this called '12voltvids' where he used his fingernail to unclog the heads in the cassette mechanism. His camcorder appears to have a similar - if not the same cassette mechanism as your Sony CCD TRV-118 and his video is called "Sony CCDTRV128 no playback and sticking cassette repair" .

I have a Sharp Veiwcam VL-H400 and it is not loading the tape properly, the head is spinning but it does not pull the tape in. It then rejects the tape, what can be done to solve it and would it and would be an easy fix. Is the problem in the video the same problem I am having?

Hi, Unfortunately there are many issues which could cause this issue, the quick fix shown in the video is simply a fault with some Sony 'type B' mechanisms meaning that it is unlikely that it would be the cause for your Sharp. It could be worth a try tho if the guides are out of their position! Personally I think it sounds like a capacitor issue, a dew sensor issue or even a loose connector, I haven't seen anything online which states what the cause of this issue is, I will let you know if i find anything.

@@AlexanderR0623 Thank you for getting back. There have been some developments with the camcorder, it looks like it might be a dew sensor issue because it was coming up on the display, it now just ejects the tape and turns off. I also have a Sony DCR-TRV120E form 2000 that turns on but zooms in constantly. The transport controls and the zoom control doesn't. it does turn out only be a Dew sensor issue on the sharp camcorder, would it be easy to solve?

@@autisticrebel1253 Hi, it does seem like a dew sensor issue, it could be easy to solve although it is pretty hard to say since it could be caused by many different reasons. The first thing you could try is to use compressed air to dry the sensor (although this only rarely works), it could also be caused by a loose or damaged cable (try reconnecting cables which connect the mechanism to the motherboard) or could even be caused by other failed components such as capacitors. For the Sony camcorder, it seems likely that the ribbon cable is broken with the top "flap" part of the mechanism, or it is also likely that there could just be a faulty switch, unless the mechanism is unable to move/focus try disconnecting the ribbon cable that connects this part to the mechanism to test if it is the switch that is faulty. There is a video from video99 who is well-known for repairing mechanisms, it is for a Sony camcorder with a dew sensor issue, but it should show his method for diagnosing the issue: kzread.info/dash/bejne/fqSF0at_mc6of9o.html (25-26 mins in).

@@AlexanderR0623 Thank you for getting back. I have had a look at how to fix a flex cable. The only issue I can see is taking the camera apart properly and managing to put the camera back together. It would make sense because years of opening and closing the door at the top of the cassette compartment would eventually wear the flex cable down.

@@D84D Hi, I have also had an issue like this before, with the camcorder shown in the video, though in my case the camcorder was just saying that it is near to the end of the tape, I'm not sure if this will be the case for yours but try re-winding the cassette back and switch it to the camera mode just to see if it is. If not, then it is most likely a slight mechanical tolerance being off as you have mentioned.

my camera has the issue where it won't even begin bringing the tape down it just shuts the door and that's it. I see yours goes down almost all the way and then gets stuck at the last inch or so.

Hi sorry for the late reply, this flickering could be due to multiple reasons, one of which could be a dirty cassette 'head' which can be cleaned with a cleaning cassette or another possibility could be that the capacitors have gone bad, If you're able to send me the make and model of the camcorder I may be able to help you out.
