I have in late 2021 switched from Canon EOS90D / Sigma 60-600 Sport, to Sony A7IV, and what a great switch. At the same time, I bought the Sony 70-200 2.8 G Master II. A super lens. The next thing I need to look at are teleconverters 1.4 and 2.0. I have previously only used Canon, but switch to 90D was dificult. Now i am happy with the switch to Sony. Eg. eye tracking on humans, animals and birds works really well. Battery life could be better. Thanks to Marlon for the introduction.

Can not make recommend the TC2.0 from Sony, it's not as good as the TC1.4. So if you do not really need it, I would not spend the money ...

Photography is not all just about the kit and the latest and greatest gear … it’s far more than that .. it’s the experience you gained along they way , the nature and it’s environment . It’s the passion and love of wildlife and the photography capturing those special moments which is relived again in post process . The gear doesn’t make you a great photographer . It’s your inner passion and imagination. The gear is purely a tool to capture a moment in time .

Stay with my current gear of Canon and Nikon DSLR. I have tried Sony mirrorless but the handling, ergonomics menus are something that I find totally head wrecking.

@@Mr09260 Bigest issue for me was the battery life wasn't as good for my needs. CANON R5, Nikon Z6/Z7, Sony Alpha 1 that battery life is not great. I heard the Canon R3 with Nikon Z9 battery life is equal to or surpassed the D5/D6 and Canon 1dx Mark iii cameras in various reviews may warrant a secondary review but the Battery life of the Sony A1 in places like Arctic,Windy,Humidity and Dry hot 🔥 conditions was a failure for my needs but probably ok for others.

I have the Sony A99II and I love this camera and have a number of lenses for it. A photo guide tells me I should switch to the A7IV, if I bought this camera and used an adapter would I be happy with using my A mount lenses? I was lucky enough to spend time on the Chobe with Charl in 2017. That's when I bought my camera I am still using

After reading about the Sony A7III shutter issues and Sony's refusal to accept it as a camera design fault (cue Class Action Lawsuit), I've very hesitant about buying a Sony camera. Shame because the 200-600mm Sony lens is amazing and pretty good value for money.

@@wilduntamedphotography1260 but what if I spend 1.5k on an A7III (i can't justify spending any more) and the shutter fails outside of the warranty? I don't want to be left with having to spend more money to get it repaired! If Sony admits the fault I would sell my fujifim camera and get it (along with the 200-600 lens), but right now I'm waiting to see what the fujifilm 150-600mm lens is like (assuming it actually comes out this year!).

@@tilikumtim5562 I know so many people with the A7III and no one has had this issue you are describing. The A7III is still today a very very capable and great camera, I don't see a problem buying a new one. For a few dollars more you can even purchase an extended warranty covering pretty much everything ...
