Clay, you mentioned the A7R5. have you used it? I can't decide between the A7S III and it. I like the lighter size and weight, but I do take more stills than video. Also, would the A7R5 work as well on a gimbal? Love to hear your take?

To complicate things, the A7S3 has dropped in price, but its not getting any of the updates, so far, not even the breathing compensation. Are there other remedies for focus breathing, when you lack that feature?

On the Sony A7S III can you film to CF EXPRESS A and SDXC same time?

I have the Sony A7IV which I use for some videos, but mostly photos. I don't really need 61MP, so I like the A7IV as a sweet spot. I do want another camera body, and though intrigued by the new announcement of the Sony ZV-E1, but I can get a new A7SIII for $600 more, and I think it is more durable, better heat management, and have the EVF. I also considered the FX30 which has a nice price point and better MP for the photo side, though APS-C.

The A7IV does seem like a perfect fit for you, Robert!

I bought the A7RV but sold it after a few months. It was just too much camera for my needs. I've got the A7iv / FX3 combo and it works well, but would love to get the A7Siii for the EVF and 12MP sensor. Why, oh why, has Sony not updated the A7Siii firmware?!! If they did, I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

Had the A7S3 and loved it, moved to A74 and it’s not as good, moved back to the A7S3 this week you just can’t beat the feeling and performance.

HI I currently shoot with an older Xt3 and im looking to upgrade. Im trying to decide between 2 full frame cameras. The new Lumix s5iix or the older Sony A7siii. My use case is video only and im currently focused on realestate videos and some weddings, client work ect. My main concern is for filming real estate in 4k60. What would look better a7siii 4k60 or the lumix s5ii 4k60 cropped? Most high end videographers in the real estate industry use a7siii. Taking everything into account, noise, low light, Dynamic range, image quality ect which is better. My goal to get the best quality 4k 60 video. Thank you

Ohh tough now.. with limited firmware updates and a lot more Sony cameras coming out as well! I am more careful these Days and not worry about newer gears but rather more work done. At this point for me, I would rather go with the fx30, and hoping more firmware updates for it.

No. I'm thinking I would be better with a "cinema" camera. If I had known the FX30 was coming, I would have waited for that. I almost never use the viewfinder. Its even an annoyance when something makes the viewfinder shut off the screen. The A7SIII does not have a variable frame rate. Time lapse is nice, but no auto focus bracketing. The K3MXLR thing is nice, but more flimsy than the models that came with camcorders years ago. Its attached directly to the hot show, making everything vulnerable. I'm having problems with it now, cutting out sound. Inputs like HD are nice, but its too small a camera to cram all those in. A cinema camera takes inputs better. Focus breathing on Sony lenses. Does not overheat thank you. I should not have listened to the KZreadrs. I did not need the special cards and storage device. I use the lighter 4K and edit fine using proxies.

Yea it is. Has an EVF and the FX3 doesn’t. I have 2 of them and love them so much.

As much as I love this camera. I’m considering an FX3 if I can get a trade going. The lack of firmware updates is insane at this point.

what firmware update? true 24p? you dont need it. DCI 4k? nice but you dont need it bro (also one mode lmao) EVF? might need that unless you make tiktoks igues?

@@swashyhimself main thing is internal LUT support. The other things are nice as well. My argument is the fx3 is literally the same sensor with almost identical internals. People argument is “oh it’s the cinema line” but now the second generation A7c will have that same feature for way less. But sure I don’t need it I guess

Is it worth to buy in 2024? I consider to buy a7s3

fx30 has bad 1080 and other nonsensical disadvantages

Smaller cameras overheat..Usually..

HATE WHEN NOOBS EXPOSE SENSOR. LIKE IT'S SOMETHING COOL TO DO.

Don’t know where you got your facts but the FX 30 is not the same as the a7S3. The FX3 is exactly the same as the a7S3 except they took away the EVF. Stupid stupid stupid. I will never buy a camera without an EVF. When and if the A7S4 comes out… That will be my next camera. Hoping for 6K. Sony’s in body stabilization is not as good as the Panasonic. But yes, they have the best auto focus on the market. I would’ve even considered the new black magic camera, but they have no auto focus and absolute crap rolling shutter. Oh well.

Sony a1 is the real king of video
