i have 2 a7siii and both have paid for themselves and continue to do so. the lack of firmware updates hasn’t kept me from making money with them. and if i want to focus on a “real” photo, i’ll use my wife’s a7iv 😁

Thank you. You're saying some real things here, man. I spent 10 hours on KZread to find your video and stop searching. "Tech demo"! True that!

Thanks for the great analogy of the tech demo. I was a Canon 5D user who slowly switched systems over the years to sony APS-C cameras (a6300 and a6400), loving the fact that Sony wasn’t crippling their cameras to maintain market segmentation. When I finally joined the Sony full frame family with an investment in the a7siii, I thought I was joining a robust ecosystem of feature-packed cameras and an expanding lens library that would grow with me over the years as a creator. Didn’t realize that the A7siii would end up being my last Sony camera. 😢

Thanks for checking out the video. To your point, Sony’s system is still a robust eco-system but the abandonment of the A7SIII is repelling and makes no sense. Appreciate you!

Great vid. I believe you meant to say “Expanded” upon it rather than “Expounded” upon it. “Expound” is one of my favorite words, but doesn’t fit in that particular context. Thanks for continuing this discussion and adding some of your unique insights to it.

Frankly, I don't understand why they don't create more brand loyalty by supporting the products they sell. The A1 and A7Siii are top of the line models, and I think especially A1 users feel bitten by this. I wouldn't expect Sony to keep supporting their cameras indefinitely, but they should support their latest models in the line-up as the A1 and A7Siii both are. Sure there is the selling of new camera bodies, but there is the selling of lenses too and loyal customers keep buying lenses on which they make profit too. And many pro's and enthusiasts own multiple bodies and lenses. Without focus breathing compensation, they're hurting their own lens sales as for example the 35mm f1.8 is a much better video lens than the 35mm f1.4 GM on A7Siii (as you mentioned in the video), which is a much cheaper lens without the GM built and GM-tax. How much can developing firmware still cost, when they can basically take it off the shelf from the A7iv, FX6, FX3 and FX30? No one is asking for Sony to develop new features, just to implement existing features that came out shortly after the release of the A7Siii and A1. It's disappointing, and makes you reconsider your choice for Sony when buying top of the line cameras.

Couldn’t agree more. Thank you for the honest opinion video. So many brand shills on KZread. Makes you doubt every camera review. Loved the video. I’m subbing for your honesty. I’m an a7siii user who feels exactly like you, this is my last sony camera unless I see an acceptable update that gets it near the fx3 by year end. Ill go further and say I’ll never even buy any Sony products period for the way we were treated. I actually unsubscribed from a whole bunch of KZreadrs when the zve1 came out and they all magically and on the same day shilled for it. They’d sell their mothers if the price was right, disgusting.

Thanks for watching the video! Sony absolutely risks loosing customers if they don't switch it up... But rumors, since I released this video, are that they will be updating the A7siii & A1. Really hope that happens! thanks again.. appreciate the sub!

I use this camera every day, it just works, it never fails. If it (in its current firmware) fits your use case, go for it. But beware that the 7sIV is likely going to be released in the next year.

Exactly! or buy a redundant focal length lens with less breathing, either way spend more money and we’ll continue to not support our “flagship” products. Thanks for checking out the video!

It really depends on how you plan on using your camera… but I’d say if you’re ever planning on using your camera for paid/client work. A7siii. A7Siii is also better for photography by a mile! For how I use my cameras, if I could only have one, it’d be the A7Siii but again that’s me. I hope that helps! 2600 for an A7siii is 🔥

I have never been as disappointed, and now angry, as i have been with Sony over the a7s3. Its really not a product demo. Its just not being updated- intentionally. That's the infuriating part. It has the internals to get upgrades, but Sony, 3 years later, is not releasing them!?!? Why? I came from Canon. Was going to buy the R5, but they played around and i was not investing in an incomplete product. I relly felt, from all my friends that had Sony camera's, that upgrades- especially at the high-end costs of the a7s3 and the a1, that these upgrades would become part of the overall positive user experience. Boy was i wrong. I probably wont need another video camera for another 3-4 years but i will need a camera for stills soon. Sony is off my list of companies to invest in going forward.

There’s talks about some significant updates coming to the A7siii so hopefully that’s true. If not, bro, I’m with you although I’m probably leaning more towards Panasonic for video at least, too much invested to switch for stills also. More than happy with Sony for stills
